wish: auto-add

if i download a song, put it into the directory of my library and play it, i want it to be added to my library automatically
it's very long winded to update the whole library for just that single song

of course it should be optional!

btw i always used wmp9 (who does it the way i described it above), but now i switched to mm! it has nearly all the features i need and has none i don't need!
mm will be perfect when he's able to look up media info for single files!
so keep your good work commin! :D

Gold

MM Gold has the solution: File Monitor. You can set File Monitor to monitor any folder(s) you want and it will update the MM DB with any changes that occur there like new files.

ok, didn't know that the file monitor does this
but there's a difference between folder monitoring and the kind of auto-add i mean! i suppose the file monitor does his scans during the start phase of MM, if i copy a file into my musik folder, he will not notice it until the next start. if i play that recently copied file it's still not shown in the library! but i want it to be there instantly when i play it! (i barely turn off my pc and MM is always in the background, so i don't start him very often)

it's not that high priority, but the effort to code it is low too i guess

btw. there's another missing feature that came in my mind... ;)
it would be nice if the currently played song gets highlighted in the library list (on the right side)
it's a minor one too, but it would be nice :) (wmp9 does this!)

I thought that the file-monitor did monitor throughout program use. Well you need to read the help on this or wait for one of the programmers to reply to see if this is a bug or just the way it works.

As for highlighting the song in the tracklistings while it's played, I like that idea too.

There is a little thing that should be clarified: File Monitor DOES monitor the folders you specify when MediaMonkey is running, if you add any file there (or modify, move, delete,...), it is noticed almost immediatelly! This apply to Windows NT, 2000 and XP (or better) only, because Windows 9x and ME simply don't support this feature to adequate level.

The 'monitoring' phase during MM start-up is there only to check for changes made when MM hadn't been running.
