Tree Nodes on DLNA

Post by freaky_andy_hh »

Hi all
I manage my musik collection with +80k titles on MM4. It consists of normal (Artist) Albums, Sampler (Multi-Artist Albums) and also other stuff.
To organize this I have created a hierarchie using the fields
Grouping (indicates if ArtistAlbum, Sampler or other)
Composer (for Artist Album it indicates if StudioAlbum, LiveAlbum or Compilation[best of], for Sampler it Indicates the type of Sampler, e.g. Charts Collection etc.)
AlbumArtist (for ArtistAlbums it contains the Artist, for Sampler it contains the Collection Name such as BRAVO Hits, The Dome etc.)
Album & Artist are used as usual

I have organised this in MM using MagicNodes. In addition I have made nodes in between which e.g. group the AlbumArtists by their names 1st digit. This avoids a lot of scrolling up and down.
I have created a new collection which only contains my Musik Collection and I have placed the MagicNodes under this collection. This is really a perfect way to drill down into the collection.

Some weeks ago I have now started to share my library but I must say it is not really comfortable because browsing the library is a hell.
Unfortunately on the DLNA device I can only see the nodes which are available in standard if activated. But with such a flat hierarchy it is really hard to browse the collection.
MagicNodes are not visible on DLNA device :(

Question is now:
Is there a way to customize the standard tree nodes and their hierachy which is available in the DLNA device?
Or (and that would be my preferred way)
Is there a solution that the MagicNodes hierarchy is shown in the DLNA device?

Many thanks for helpful answers

You can only share standard nodes over DLNA for now: http://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=9264

For almost a year by the users, the integration is already claimed. To date nothing has happened. The ID 0009264 see that nothing happens. Why?
It can not be such a problem that the alternative nodes are dispayed over UPNP / DLNA.

It really would be a useful addition to this wonderful program.

I keep hitting this too... I have a moderate size collection (about 12,000 tracks) but find I don't listen to anything 'higher' than 'D' cos it just takes too long to scroll.

Ideally I'd love either an option to use something like Magic Nodes (which I'd have to research, install etc etc) or an option to 'add' an extra set of nodes per letter. I.e. In between 'album artist' and the actual items that we see in MM itself, an extra layer of first letters a, b, c, d etc to make it considerably quicker. Personally I think as a media server something like this would be better from a user-perspective to be integrated into MM itself rather than relying on extra software like Magic Nodes.

Thanks Ludek,

Looking at that it looks like I'll need to install MagicNodes for it or have I misunderstood?

Yes, this topic is about the ability to share custom nodes like those from Magic Nodes over UPnP. You can't change build in nodes or how they behave. MediaMonkey 4.1 does have improvements in that in various nodes it won't load the file list any more and instead will have an All subnode along all the other subnodes.

So will the default tree nodes be customizable in later versions of 4.1? It's a pain with, from the DLNA client, going thru the videos collection, selecting genre then a specific genre then go thru 100's of actors when all I would want is the movies.

Although I too have to try MagicNodes more flexibility/definition for info passed to a client would be very welcomed.

There's an All node first showing you all movies matching the Genre.

I must be missing something here. I do not see this on my DLNA client using BubbleUPnP. Could you provide more details on how to get this to work.

I'm using MM: 4.0.7.1511 and my DLNA client is Bubble uPnP: 1.7.1
So there is no confusion.. I'm looking to see how I can get the DLNA client to see genre, then all movies. The number of actors is well over the 100's.

You'll need to use the latest beta of MediaMonkey 4.1 from the Beta forum to see the All node and new DLNA specific navigation/sort structure.
