wifi sync failing
I've been using the wifi sync since I started using MMA a couple months back. Other than an issue finding the server once (corrected by a reboot of phone and PC) everything has been working. I was syncing just one playlist for testing, but now I want to step up and test with more.
My working config synced one auto playlist with a couple hundred songs. I deselected that one and selected a different one in MMW. When I sync now, the server is found but it gives the "sync failed" error message on MMA. I do not see any activity on the MMW status bar.
Is there a log that I can check to see what's going on? Alternately, I could upload a log and post the time here I suppose. I just thought I could check myself first.

Re: wifi sync failing
I put things back to the original settings in the portable player sync list. The original config did not seem to work. I uninstalled MMA, rebooted the phone, and reinstalled. I connected again to sync and it connected. After analyzing and not seeing any files that needed uploading it finished. I then switched the sync to the larger playlist and it failed again.
Is there a problem with syncing large playlists that take a while to analyze on the MMW side? The set of files is 1268 large if that matters. I created a new playlist that was a copy of the first and modified the criteria so that only 62 files. This playlist starts to sync but fails. There were 3x message was "Media ... cannot be downloaded. Timeout."
I just clicked "send logs" now.
EDIT: I then synced again and it indicated that 26 songs were remaining in the sync. This time the sync completed without error. For reference, I've been using a USB sync with a Creative Zen Vision:M for years with exactly zero sync issues. I sync many auto playlists to the ZVM.

Re: wifi sync failing
I had a similar problem and was able to resolve it with some changes to my MMW setup. I don't know if your issue is the same, but here's what I saw.
My MM database and library live on a network drive. I first had MMW installed on a laptop that accesses the library over wifi. I noticed that in MMW, it took a long time to populate some of my auto lists. Those same auto lists often failed to sync. Static lists would sync fine.
I then moved MMW to a desktop that has a physical network connection. When I run it there, the auto lists populate much faster. And now when I wifi sync to that machine, the sync completes.
So my root cause seemed to be that the laptop where MMW was installed did not have fast enough access to the database and library. Hope that helps with your issue.

Re: wifi sync failing
My setup isn't over wifi, but the files are all located on a file server and MMW is on a different desktop. I have a gigabit network, but that may not help since the data being transferred is small chunks of data from a large number of small files. Perhaps I could try moving the database and main installation of MMW to the file server. In the mean time, I'll try making the list a standard playlist with the same content. Thanks for the suggestion.
Re: wifi sync failing
I tried a few more configurations for the playlists and am not clear what's going on. I took BigInJapan's advice and tried converting the autoplaylist to a static playlist. With the full 1200+ tracks, the sync fails (static or auto). I didn't get a chance to move my instance of MMW, but after thinking about it, I'm not sure why it would matter. Unless MMW is parsing all the files for some reason, the network connection between the file server and the MMW PC wouldn't even be used.
I updated to the latest MMA version last night and I still get the same error.

Re: wifi sync failing
I updated MMW to 1620 today. I then asked MMA for a wifi update. I know it connected as all the songs I listened to at work and on the commute were touched. However, MMA reported a failed sync prior to downloading any files. Logs have been uploaded

Yes, that was a typo. I meant 1630.
Re: wifi sync failing
I'm unable to replicate, Synchronized aprox 1500+ tracks with various setup combination of Clean MMA, Updated MMA, No profiles, No settings. The only time MMA sync failed is when I got out of Range of my Wi-Fi.

Re: wifi sync failing
Is there something I can try on this end? Maybe deleting the profile and recreating it. I've tried that before, but since it's not working anyway I might as well. Anything else?
Re: wifi sync failing
I deleted the profile and created a new one. The sync was working fine until I started running low on power. I plugged it into the USB on my laptop (not the MMW server) and that stopped the sync since it wanted to switch to USB. I restarted the sync after plugging the phone into the wall and it failed. I generally have 2-4 bands on my wifi, so I assumed the signal was good strength. I suppose it's possible that a momentary disconnect in wifi could be happening though since I've never checked.
The other thing I thought of was what happens when the phone turns the screen off. I checked my settings and it looks like I was set to turn off wifi when sleeping unless charging. I assumed that if an app was using the wifi, it would keep it active, but now I'm guessing that's not the case. Peke, can you verify what setting you have your phone on? I'm at work so I can't test now but I plan on switching to "always" and trying again.

Re: wifi sync failing
I turned off the setting to disable wifi on sleep and set the phone to never sleep. I still got an error when syncing. I then closed MMW and relaunched as an admin and tried syncing again. This time I checked sync all content box as well. That was a bad choice as it started populating all of the albums back from MMA to MMW and now I have a bazillion empty playlists to delete.
I stopped the sync, turned off that option, and synced again. This time it appears to be copying all files that were expected. I haven't verified that as it is in the process of transferring right now. Is it possible that this error only occurs if you do not run MMW as an admin? With Win7, the default is to run as a user and you have to right click "run as admin" to get full rights so I typically don't bother.

Re: wifi sync failing
The sync completed successfully this time! Can I assume that the issue was that I wasn't running as admin? I typically just select the icon in the start menu which is not set up to run as admin. I will switch that over now that it appears that that is the issue.
Re: wifi sync failing
I tried again this morning just to verify that everything was still ok, and the sync failed. I'm starting to wonder if this is a result of wifi kicking off momentarily. The icon stays blue with 2-4 bars, but I've noticed an up arrow and what looks like an 'x' under it right when the "sync failed" message pops up. I've done a search, but cannot seem to locate a guide for what the different icons mean. I know that having the wifi fan present with 4 bars means I am connected with a strong signal. I know that up arrow indicates that the phone is uploading. But I can't find anything for the 'x'. Unless I'm not seeing it clearly and that's supposed to be a down arrow.
I'm going to try to find a wifi signal monitor/analyzer today to see if that's the issue. I know there are some apps that claim to keep the connection alive, but I would have thought MMA would be doing the same thing when it's trying to setup a sync.
