Hi all...
I searched this forum and couldn't find a reference to this feature, so I'm asking here.
You know how Media Monkey for Windows has a "find missing tracks" feature (in case you move or delete files, for example). Well, if I am not syncing MM for Android with MM for Windows, but just using it as a local music player and manager on the phone, a "find missing tracks" feature would be great, because I often move my music around on the phone (using a file manager).
I moved one track to another location on the phone, and MediaMonkey couldn't find it/said it was missing. But I didn't see anything in the settings or elsewhere that let me tell MM for Android I wanted it to go search for the file (or to point to where it lived now).
Is there a way to do this, or is it a future feature?

Re: No "find missing tracks" feature?
I believe it is up to Android to update its media database. After that media Apps like MediaMonkey will see the tracks. I've read people doing this update manually, but I don't know how that's done.

Huh - that seems weird. So MediaMonkey depends on Android's database to know where files are, instead of searching itself?Lowlander wrote:I believe it is up to Android to update its media database. I would think it would be able to search files directly on the filesystem, just like various filemanagers do.

Don't quote me on it. I understand for quick development of the first version that the existing Android Media system was used. This makes a lot of sense I think as there's no need to reinvent the wheel. However it seems a future version may depart from this as the Android Media system has its flaws and drawbacks.

I would think so, especially as phones' available memory grows and keeping track of everything takes more time.Lowlander wrote:Don't quote me on it. Ideally, any file operations would be caught and the media database updated automatically by the Android OS, but that doesn't seem to be happening.
