Switching from J. River Media Center, does MM do ...

The one place where it seems that JRMC has the edge of MM is around metadata, tagging, etc. I can easily extend the schema to add my custom fields (including support for multi-valued fields), plus I can add support for almost any tag that exists in my files.

I believe MM may see some improvement in this area come v4.0.

I'm also considering apply my MM device plugin knowledge into developing other plugins to achieve similar efffects. I'm considering

• Another MM instance on another PC
• XBMC

I have the same requirement as you and have succeeded in setting up MM sync to folder. I used the USBMass1.DLL but since it cannot target a folder only a drive, I also used at SUBST drive.

Another possible workaround is the Virtual Recording CD by Peke http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... 12#p359512 .

J.River is a POS software. First they charge you again and again FOR LIFE. Whenever they need new money (the company may go belly up anytime they use up their intial funding, I believe from the owner's father) they simply announce a new release and ask you to pay again. Then discontinue support for the version you bought. If you complain on their forum named Interact (which would be better named INTERCEPT) they will just change what you post. Not even stating the post has been edited by their Nazi lack owner Jim Hillegass. They (Jim Hillegass) has so infuriated me over the years I posted a video to Youtube here:

The reason I'm looking to replace JRMC with MM is because of the following:

1) Their attitude on the forums. If you disagree with them, they'll either tell you its your fault, ignore you, or just delete your post.

Yeah, I've been in that situation myself. I love the folks here, so MM gets my money and love.
