Hello,
So I just downloaded the beta the other day and thus far I like it. However, there is one thing I'd like to maybe request or at least be told how to do.
My library consists of some 21,031 files at a SD Card crushing 393.3gb, so syncing the entire thing is not going to happen. Recently I found myself at the local goodwill browsing the CD rack and I grabbed a few CD's that interested me. Turns out that they interested me because I already bought them and had forgotten that I had done so.
So, I would like to suggest/request/what have you the means of syncing the MetaData your device of choice as a means of a mobile catalog so that buying duplicates can hopefully be avoided. Now if you'll excuse me, I have a goodwill to run to.
Thanks,
Nut
Sync just the MetaData (like Virtual CD)

Re: Sync just the MetaData
This is a feature that I would like too, but I was intending to postpone the request until after the first official stable release.
My sync list is based primarily on playlists and I would like to be able to select media to sync by adding tracks to the playlists while I am away from home. Even better would be the option to 'pin' music by album like Google Play Music does so I could skip the playlists entirely.
I don't believe this would be particularly difficult to implement. I don't know the structure of MMA's database but it shouldn't need any modification. If the 'file path' field is blank then the track should be treated as cache only, and MMA should not attempt any file operations such as writing tag changes. The UI would then need a toggle button to switch between displaying database tracks and displaying only those which are on the device.

Re: Sync just the MetaData
I was thinking about this some more. If over the air syncing of the MetaData isn't possible, I'd be willing to simply copy the MM.DB file from my system to my device periodically. Just a suggestion.

That's similar to MMW's virtual CD feature, where you can scan the media, and only optionally encode it to the drive. Interesting point, especially as we're thinking about future iterations of how to keep the library in sync across multiple devices of differing sizes.
