code 5 Error on attempting to update MM Windows

Post by mediamonkeychick »

I have downloaded the latest file for update but it only goes so far on install before I get this message:

An error occurred while trying to replace the existing file: DeleteFile failed: code 5.
Access is denied

Multiple times I have hit retry and have finally hit the Abort while I wait for a response. I am hoping it will be possible as apparently it is critical for wireless transfer to Androiod, which is what I am using.

Have I downloaded the wrong file to update my Gold installation? I am not keen to uninstall and then lose all my settings etc., including the addons and have to redo it all. Otherwise I would try that. Any ideas on what is going wrong? I have version 4.1.3.1708 currently on a Windows 8.1 machine.

Cheers

Thanks!
I will try to install the update when the computer has been restarted without restarting MM.

I have to do it as I now find I am unable to download files to the Android device using UPNP (wireless). It starts and then fails each time. So I hope this update might fix it.

Then send a debug log from MMA (from About screen) after wifi sync fails.

Had to uninstall, but install succeeded after that.

Sent debug report as WiFi transfer still fails.

Cheers!

Hello
I've tried all the suggestions above, none worked. In the end after a restart I've opened the Windows task manager, scrolled down until I found MediaMonkey and stopped the process. Installation of latest update worked 100%.

Hope it helps.

Installed just fine. But thanks Mk5

But can still not wirelessly transfer files using UPNP as I used to be able to do. Sent debug report.

Out of curiosity, what MM version were you previously using?
