Hello, I tried to use MM as a renderer for AAC files and got the error message that MM cant read the file Format. MP3 works fine.
Playing AAC files with MM direct is working fine too.
What can I do?

Re: MM as a renderer for AAC files
You need to either have Quicktime installed, a codec pack like K-lite (still might not work) or purchase MM codec pack.

Hi, MMFrLife
thanks for the reply. idownloaded and installed the trial MM codec pack but there is still the same error message. do I have to activate something in MM?
I see the MMcodes pack Trial in the extensions of MM.

Re: MM as a renderer for AAC files
he wants to install Quicktime but I dont want to have any apple Software on this System. not because I hate apple but they are so possessive. I have apple Software all over on that system if I install only a little apple Programm.
Re: MM as a renderer for AAC files
What operating system are you using.
I'm not exactly sure, as I have never needed to purchase the MM codec pack.
Seems like in an earlier 4 version of MM I had trouble with it and either did K-Lite and/or quicktime. I don't remember
exactly. In 3 I used quicktime. Currently I did a recent reinstall of my system and I haven't put anything extra
relating to AAC on it (quicktime, MM pack, third-party pack) and I can play AAC fine,
currently listening to an .mp4 track.
Now I am using MM 4 with windows 7 though. It might just be using the AAC decoder native to Win7 as article mentions.
Did you click on the .mmip file and it said it installed? You might have to look for it in options menu to see if you have to set
something or enable. Someone will come along that is more familiar with download process for it.
On Apple, I understand. I'm no fan of Apple myself (too possessive, and a bit overly simplistic)

Re: MM as a renderer for AAC files
Can other programs play the file (particularly QuickTime would be good to know)?

Re: MM as a renderer for AAC files
is there any other solution than installing QuickTime?
The problem also occurs when I stream from WMP to MM AAC files on the same System.

Re: MM as a renderer for AAC files
M4P files can't be played without iTunes/QuickTime due DRM. Have you tried QTLite http://www.free-codecs.com/download/QT_Lite.htm ? it is old but it also only contain plain codec not blown full QuickTime.
