Hello,
I work with two softwares that share the same database on an external hard drive: MediaMonkey and BeaTunes. My wish is that when one of them changes something in the tags (BMP, volume...), the other one picks it up at its next synchronization. But many informations are always missing. For example: the volume leveled in MM does not appear in BT, and MM doesn't get the BPM analyzed in BT. Why?
Thank you!

When you say share the the same database, do you mean they just use the same "files" on an external drive?Charade wrote:I work with two softwares that share the same database on an external hard drive: MediaMonkey and BeaTunes.
How are you trying to "link" the two programs?Charade wrote:My wish is that when one of them changes something in the tags (BMP, volume...), the other one picks it up at its next synchronization. I would think to do what you are asking, the two programs would need to share the same MM database .db file (to be able to interpret
the metadata as the same). I've never heard of anyone trying to share or link the two programs.

Most programs (MediaMonkey including) will require rescanning of the files to update their database after you've made changes outside of the program. (by default MediaMonkey is set to update the tags in the songs).

Hello again, thanks for your replies!
All my songs are on an external memory hard drive. MediaMonkey and Beatunes share this same database, both can change datas in their own fashion. Each time I open one of them, I run a rescan or synchronization to update any changes that the other one would have made. No problem with track ID and album covers, I checked many times, and every change I made was transfered from a software to the other. But there are some other datas that should be shared and are not!
The two most annoying gaps are the BPM analyzed in Beatunes that Mediamonkey ignores and the volume analyzed and leveled in Mediamonkey that Beatunes ignores. Both sofware use the same code system for tagging, so it shouldn't be the problem. Then, what is the problem?
Thank you again for your help to find the solution!

Are you sure BPM is saved to the tags?

Re: Tags and datas not transfering
Yes, I am sure!
I asked at BeaTunes, and the support staff don't understand why MediaMonkey won't pick up the BMP analyzed in BT... and suggested to ask the MM staff about it!
Here is a part of the conversation:
Me:
The most annoying is the BPM that I have to enter or correct myself for many songs, since they are missing or wrong.
Staff:
Really? MM does not show BPM calculated by beaTunes... that's odd, as it is such a standard field.
So here I am, asking!
Thanks to you again.
