Display Does Not Appear to Scroll When Selecting Lots of Tracks [#17009]

Post by IanRTaylorUK »

In MMW4 I can show all tracks sorted by rating and starting with the 5*, select the first track then use [Shift] + [Down Arrow] to select all the 4* plus 5* tracks. As the selected tracks (676) are greater than one screen, the display of the tracks moves with the last selected track. That is to say, the screen scrolls. This works with other key combinations like [Home] or [Page Down] or [Page Up]

Once I have made my selection, I can right click and send this to a new or existing playlist. A dialogue will intercept if there are duplicates. Confirming No with thus ONLY add new tracks that have been rated 4* or 5* in this example. A great way to maintain a playlist of 4* and 5* tracks for quick selection.

In MMW5 - whilst the "All Tracks" display is comparable - using the [Shift] + [Any Movement Key] does increase the files selected according to the status bar; however the selection does not scroll. The consequence is that you do not see whether you are at the point where the list changes from 4* to 3* This makes it somewhat challenging to do the previous!

Is there a setting to get movement keys to work? perhaps there is a reason MMW5 is different? or is this a (new) bug?

P.S. Having "Ratings" in a playlist is useful for devices that do not necessarily support selecting by rating or to keep key strokes to a minimum. In my a media player on a motorbike.
