lag when changing views [#17106]

Post by Barry4679 »

The lag when changing views in this situation seems excessive.

I am filtered to just 14 tracks:
  • 7 seconds to change from List to List By Album view
  • 10 seconds to change from List By Album to List view
Since there is no change to filtering shouldn't this view change be achievable with a sub second response?

Hi,
I noticed the same lag, but that same lag is when I use column browser criteria in Auto Playlists and switch from one to another.

There is definitely space for improvement. What do you suggest from your experience we should try to archive, as for me it is not ideal but reasonably in acceptable margins?

I think that is way beyond acceptable ... It makes MM5 look very very laggy ... and will stir up complaints about it being implemented using a non-compiled dev tool.

You asked for my suggestion. That would be that the UI can see that i am just changing view ... and that it should respond by resorting and re-using the same dataset ... rather than reapplying the same Column Filter criteria over my whole database, just to filter back to exactly what it already had ... because I presume that is what is causing the lag in an operation which is just change of View, and is not a re-navigation.

The lag is not acceptable, the UI should be always smooth without any lag and every long running tasks needs to be done on background.

It sounds to me like if this issue re-appears: https://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=17106
So re-opened.
