2606 installs but freezes on the MM logo. Has to be shut down with task manager

Have you tried reinstalling after a PC reboot? If it still fails, please capture this failure to start in a debug log (step 4b) and attach the log to a Support Ticket: viewtopic.php?t=86643

where Chromium has trouble to run with HW acceleration enabled in your environment for some reason.
So using the MediaMonkey_NoGPU.bat is the workaround for now.
EDIT: May I additionaly ask you which graphic card do you use and whether your card drivers are up to date?
