Any chance of bringing back the extended toolbar that existed in the previous version.

Which toolbar do you mean?

I think he is refering to all the options that were available on the toolbar in the last version. Actually, I would like it better if the toolbar were customizable.

Is there any particular function you miss on toolbar?

However, customizable toolbars would be probably the best solution - so again in one of the next versions.

Actually the button I miss the most are:
Rename files
Database management
Scan for moved songs

Ok, I will think about it and probably add a second toolbar with some less important actions (like database management).

freedb queries

Post by bwolsey »

I would also love to have the "Query freedb for the selected CD" button on the toolbar.

Even better... make it so that when you double click on the drive under the Computer Node, it does the query.

I know that it automatically does the query after you scan it, but then you end up with a Shadow of the files and you have to delete them after you have ripped and converted them.

Also, It would be very nice if when the disk is done being Grabbed, and Encoded, it would eject the disk to let me know that it is done.

I think about creating a kind of wizard for grabbing audio CDs. I don't mean a wizard which usually slows down your work, but rather something that would help you to specify exactly what you want to do (including disk eject, freedb query, and so on). I think that would solve what you asked for.

CD Grabbing wizard

Post by bwolsey »

I think that's a GREAT idea. Make it an option in the Setup dialog - CD window which allows you to enable the wizard.

Make the wizard, when a disk is inserted open a window and query freedb and present the multiple results. Once you have chosen your content, the next window gives you the option to do 1 of many things.
  • 1. Rip CD
    2. Cache CD
    3. Preview CD
    4. Add CD to DB
    5. Whatever other options that you see fit to add (since you know better than I do)
This window also has a check box which asks if you want the CD to be ejected when the process is finished. It would remember this choice next time, that way, if I wanted it to eject the disk, it would always do that until I change this option.
Then, depending on which option was chosen, it opens the corresponding dialog box to perform that action. Of course, once it is done it would either eject the disk or not depending on your choice earlier.

Anyway, This is my thoughts for your idea. I hope that it helps and thanks for listening.
