Hi,
Just a minor suggestion to resolve a user interface ambiguity in the status line when searching for new files via the File > Add/rescan files to the library option.
I have a moderate size library (25K files) and recently added four albums to it via using windows to put the files in their correct location in my windows music folders, and using Add/rescan to get them into the MM library database. When using the option to add the 50 files to the library, the text at the bottom of the screen stated "Adding XXX of YYY (path...)", where YYY was a count up through the 25K files in the library and XXX was not far behind it. My first thought that was all of a sudden I was going to get XXX duplicated files, since the prompt literally said that they were being added.
After terminating the process at XXX>1000 a couple of times and checking the library and folders I determined that - in contrast to what the prompt was saying - only new files were actually being added to the system and I wasn't going to be faced with thousands of duplicates, as had been reported elsewhere in the forums. I ended up letting the process run to completion, and I did get the result I wanted - 50 files added without 24,950 duplicates.
So this suggestion is for you to remove this ambiguity for users by changing the status line "Adding xxx of yyy (path...)" to "Scanning xxx of yyy (path...)", which is a more accurate descriptor and won't induce concern for unintended outcomes, which MM5 is a bit notorious for. I understand that "Adding" is a broad descriptior of the functionality that initiated the process and might be a useful shorthand from a programming perspective, but users won't necessarily see it that way and they are right to be concerned about the consequences for bulk addition of files to the library.
Cheers
