DLNA Zone Audio Control MM5 from MMA

Post by kjsanders86 »

Just setting up MM5 and MMA but stumped at this point when trying to use MMA to control DLNA stream started from MM5.

Scenario:
1) Start music play from MM5 to DLNA renderer (Arylic end point) speakers.
2) At MM5 I have full successful control of renderer (volume, track, etc.)
3) At MMA (Android phone) try to see and control what's been started with MM5 (like a typical zone audio control sys) but can't.

What is the process on MMA (or otherwise) to do this... start stream at MM5, and control it (and other zones, groups) via MMA.

Thanks,

MMA can't do this.

Is this on the roadmap of features? A sophisticated solution for multi-room audio would require various servers/clients syncing with what is playing (in real time) in the different zones and allow control. Many, many use cases support this including playing music in multiple zones but needing to mute one zone because of an incoming phone call, etc.

I'm using Arylic (Up2Stream Amps) for multiple zones with MM5 as the DLNA server and wanting MMA loaded on various users phones to control playback in those zones (volume, selection, zone groupings, etc.)

What's interesting is that Arylic's own app (4STREAM) can instantly see what is playing in each zone (even started by MM5 or MMA in those zones). They do have an available API and dev tools I believe.

If not MMA what other 'clients' can I use? MonkeyMote?

Also, if someone has a recommendation of another solution that meets my needs (with great Music, Podcast, and Audiobook support) I'd love to hear it! thx
