[SOLVED] Can't play mp3...

Post by Kryuss »

Hi,

just installed MediaMonkey 5... It seems what I was searching for a long time ! :)

But... I can't play any mp3 with it... It works on other players (like winamp)...
When I dble click on it, it loads it, but nothing happens... Only the bar which indicates 00:00 at left and -06.31 (for example) at right... When I click on "play" button, nothing happens, the bar don't even move.
All other informations are displaying good.

I tried some solutions read on this forum and elsewhere but, no way, nothing works.
I check all the options, I don't see where the problem comes from...

Any idea ?

I have a 20.000 + files if this information can be important.

Thanks for help...

Which Build (Help > About) of MediaMonkey are you using? Is only MP3 affected, or do all other file types also fail to play in MediaMonkey? Lastly, does it still fail when you open the MP3s in File Explorer with MediaMonkey?

Thanks for your reply.

one important (?) thing I have to say... I'm on Windows 11 version 23H2

Here the informations you asked :

- "Which Build (Help > About) of MediaMonkey are you using? "

Version 5.0.4.2693 (just installed from the website yesterday)

- "Is only MP3 affected, or do all other file types also fail to play in MediaMonkey?"

wma doesn't work neither

- "Lastly, does it still fail when you open the MP3s in File Explorer with MediaMonkey?"

doesn't work neither. The file loads and no more...

In the links (I don't have rights to post links) from support you gave :

https://www.mediamonkey.com/addons/brow ... ut-plugin/
is not compatible with Mediamonkey 5.

http://otachan .com/in_!mpg123.html
404 Not found link

I read the links carefully, but same...
I even installed the "windows media player" from the microsoft store as suggested...

I don't see what is wrong.

Thanks for help

Check the Audio Device you've set in the Output Plugin. Make sure it's set to primary or default. Also try to update you Sound Card drivers for your PC.

Yes I checked this, idem.

Well, I just have a message when starting Mediamonkey now (???), after reinstalling it, and some restart...
in french and under in english :

"
MediaMonkeyEngine.exe - Image incorrecte
"

"
MediaMonkeyEngine.exe - Incorrect image
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\RTWorkQ.DLL is not designed to run under Windows or contains an error. Re-install the program using the original installation media, or contact your system administrator or software supplier for support. Error status: 0xc000020.
"
I found this dll on the web, but not the same size... I'm not sure about what I'm supposed to do... If any idea ?

thanks for help.

I would not recommend to download ddl files from random websites, as that might cause more issues then solve it.

Check the system for corruption. (for windows 7,8,10, and 11)

Type cmd in Windows search
Right-click on Command Prompt and pick Run as administrator
When the confirmation prompt shows up, click Yes
In this window, type in the following commands, pressing Enter after each:
sfc /scannow
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

I have run these command a few days back, and the filedate of RTWorkQ.DLL is set to that date on my system. So if the file is corrupted it should be repaired by running the above commands.

Documentation:
SFC info: https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/top ... 6e85d4094e

DISM info: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windo ... windows-11
I am using MediaMonkey on my Retro Systems, using the latest Beta build on Windows 11. Managing ~54k files

Hi,
You can download https://www.happymonkeying.com/plugin.php?q=300019 rename MMIP to ZIP and Extract in_mad.* DLL and two INI files to MM Plugins folder, try to play the files.

Also it could be very useful if you can provide DL link to one of those files in support ticket so that we can check it on or systems.

RE new error regarding RTWorkQ.DLL: I agree with CrashMonkey to check windows health using those commands.

More info at:
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windo ... dworkqueue
https://windows10dll.nirsoft.net/rtworkq_dll.html (Nirsoft information can be considered trusted, I personally use it for decades without issues)

thanks for all !

It works now !

The key was that 3 files in the Plugins folder (thank you Peke !) !

For DL links of this file can be easily find (so much around). I simply searched "RTWorkQ.DLL" on bing... I didn't dare to put it in place of the original one...

Now, time to enjoy MM 5 :)

Hi,
Glad to see it working OK.

Always a pleasure to help.

Yeah, tempering with system files is very risky.

Happy Monkeying!
