Please could you add an option that allows users to decide if they want to keep the Search box always open and displayed?
In MM4 it was like that. Now in MM5/2024, the Search box is collapsed and I have to waste a click on the magnifying glass before I can start typing.
I do a lot of querying on the DB, and would just want the Search box to always be there so that I can start typing straightaway.
Thank you.
Yes, I support this also, but recall we get lots of questions about people not being able to differentiate Global Search and Search in current display - they call this contextual, and expect people to first click in the list to make sure it has focus, and then start typing into the invisible search box.
Personally, I think this is perverse, and not at all intuitive, as evidenced by the number of questions arising.
Have a visible search box, with a clear selection for "Global"or "Within current Display" only. In fact, I would be quite happy to see both search boxes displayed full time, one above the Current display and the other one where it is now or above the media tree for global searches.
Or, how about having the magifying glass act like the present "Down Arrow" and immediately bring up a mandatory selection of "Global"or "Within current Display"
