I was prompted to install a new version of MM last night and am now running 2024.0.0.3082 (Windows 11)
I tried to drag a folder and drop it to a different folder and nothing happened. Folder remained where it was.
I then tried to manually do the Send To | Folder (Move)... to the target directory and the folder didn't move.
When trying to drag the folder the icon changes to a green-ish circle-bar which seems to indicate the action is prohibited. I don't remember whether this is different from the previous MM version.
Could this be a setting? I had a similar hiccup on Add/Scan where the expected behavior didn't work but did when I clicked on a checkbox for the target directory.

Re: Send To (Move) / Drag and Drop not working
Just tested and both work just fine. Could the file be read-only?

Re: Send To (Move) / Drag and Drop not working
Thanks for checking - I guess it's some oddity on my installation I'll have to figure out.
There does seem to be something going on with something read-only. In File Explorer I see all folders are marked with the hyphen read-only marker. Can't seem to clear it, can't find any read-only files at the leaf directories, and am displaying hidden files.
Even creating a new, empty folder shows the hyphen read-only and can't be cleared. Tried at command line with attrib -r, file explorer still shows the hyphen read-only.
(edit to add) Drag and drop works fine in Windows Explorer, not in MM. When I click on a folder in MM and start a drag motion the cursor changes to the green circle-bar. Directory structure is
\Music
--\FreshRips
----\Artist
-----\Album
I try to grab the Artist folder and drag it up to the Music folder after adding album art and verifying details. Worked yesterday before the MM upgrade, doesn't work today. I can't think other delta on this machine that would account for the change in behavior.

Re: Send To (Move) / Drag and Drop not working
...dragging and dropping individual files between folders in MM works as expected.
Select a file in the middle pane and the cursor initially is the green bar-circle . When the cursor travels to the left hand tree pane it changes to a dashed rectangle. Let go of the button and the file moves to the new location.
When I select a folder from the left hand pane and drag it the cursor is a green bar-circle icon. When the cursor travels to the middle pane it changes to the dashed rectangle. I didn't release since I'm not sure where the folder will end up.
Dragging a folder from the left hand tree to the Now Playing pane and release adds all files in the folder to the Now Playing list.
I'm trying to do folder move from the Location node in the left hand tree. I could drag folders solely within the Location tree in the left hand window prior to this version, can't do it now.
I also just tried to do a Send To | Folder (Copy) and that doesn't work either.
Is there a way to view folders in the middle window?

Re: Send To (Move) / Drag and Drop not working
Reverted to version 5.0.5.2695 and drag and drop within the left hand pane works as it used to.
I'll create a bug report if someone else can duplicate the issue I posted above.

Same here with MM2024!
I don't like the new behaviour, but don't know if it's a bug or a "feature"...

For folders Cut & Paste only work by using the right-click menu.Lowlander wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2025 11:43 am Thanks for reporting, added as: https://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=21434

CTRL-X and CTRL-V via keyboard do nothing.
