MMW 2024.1.0.3113 Volume Changing Issues [#21574]

Post by Tetrachromacy »

Hello, with the new update I've noticed a particularly bad issue with MM. Sometimes after you've left MM idle for a while, or if you pause playback and then switch to a new track, it will play the track at 100% volume even if the volume bar is set to something else.

So say I have it playing at 30% and a song ends, and then I take about 1 minute to find a new album to play. When I queue it up and the audio starts, it plays the song at full volume even though the volume bar is still at 30%. If you engage with the volume bar at that point (ie to scroll down once for -5% volume) the audio will immediately change to sound like the number it is actually set at (30%). Keep it mind this is all only happening audio-wise, the volume bar doesn't actually physically set itself to 100% - it just sounds like it is.

This can be quite horrible, getting headphone blasted at 100% volume. This has been happening persistently since the new update.

Are you using WASAPI set to Exclusive Mode? Try DirectSound, do you see the same?

I am using WASAPI with exclusive mode turned off (which I believe is the default because I've never tooled around in this menu before).

It appears that switching to DirectSound as recommended has alleviated the issue. That being said, I was always using the WASAPI output and it never used to do that, so maybe there is an issue with it.

We've been unable to replicate this, but believe it's fixed based on debug logs shared with us. Can you confirm whether the newest beta build at viewtopic.php?p=527033#p527033 solves this for you?

Thanks!

Hi, I just wanted to add that I am currently experiencing this same issue, running MediaMonkey Gold version 2024.1.0.3113 with WASAPI output set.
