Found this thread after playing a live album and experiencing gaps in between the end of one track and the start of the next. As a test, played back older audio files with audio experiences that are meant to be seamless and found these to also exhibit gaps. Audio playback is set to Gapless. Cross Fade is off. Setting to None makes the silence longer, worse.

Hi Chep, Hi Peke!
I hope you don't mind me jumping in here for a moment.
Gapless playback works fine for me with the 'Exo' Playback engine. When it is set to 'Native', I experience exactly the same behaviour that you described.
Best Regards
Christian

Chep, you could also check in MMA under the 'gear icon' - Options - Playback whether 'Exo' is selected as the playback engine (last setting at the bottom of the page).Chep wrote: ↑Fri Dec 26, 2025 4:08 pm Found this thread after playing a live album and experiencing gaps in between the end of one track and the start of the next. Hi Media Monkey Friends,
Sorry for the delay, running around for the holidays.
Thanks for the suggestion, Christian - my settings were already set to Exo. I tried switching it to Native since I was in there anyway, but that didn't improve anything. Set it back to Exo.
I selected two neighboring tracks from 8 randomly selected albums that I expect to have gapless transitions. Out of the 8, only one album consistently plays without a hitch between songs which suggests ... what? ... that MMA -is- capable of playing back 100% gapless, that the issue is with the files themselves? My first thought was that the successful tracks were m4a, the ones that hiccup were mp3, but I have an album of m4a that have an instant of silence between songs, which kills that theory.
I measured the duration of silence at the ends/starts of the neighboring test tracks and none of them stand out as “super long silence that MMA gapless cannot deal with” (I don't know how MMA approaches gapless playback..)
