Hi,

I'm new to Media Monkey and I would like to tag ripped LP's. They are saved in .wav files. I have installed the discogs plug in and have set up an account. When I select auto tag from the web I get the message "You need a account at discogs in order to use Discogs Tagger". I already have an account and I have installed the plug-in successfully in MM. Is there somewhere in MM options where I need to specify my discogs login credentials? I am logged in to discogs through my browser. Thanks for your help!!!

Secondly, will the discogs plug-in analyze/look up the waveform then find the album name, artwork, etc and embed it into the wav file?

Hi Bob Bean Bags,

I think you need to log onto Discogs website and then click option 2 in MMW4 to authorise. This is from the dialogue that shows when you "first" try to Auto-Tag a track(s) from the Web.

The Discogs web site will show a confirmation mentioning Access Token / Access Token Secret and GUID

I recall that you then click OK twice in MMW4 and everything is done.

I just wanted to check something. Discogs Tagger seems slower than usual for some time now. It loads searched release in pretty much same timeframe, but when I for example change checkbox for something, for example I remove one track, or uncheck save cover, it says "please wait for collection data" in red box in upper left, and becomes unresponsive, for 30 (and more) seconds. Is this behavior normal? It seems just too long to me. I don't remember it being so slow and unresponsive on inputing such changes.

Hi,

the time the Tagger needs depends on the release you choose.

If the release has many tracks, it need more time to get all information for every track.

Which release you like to tag ?

The speed differs depending of the release, that's true, but still overall it's very slow. Here are the videos of two example releases, one with many tracks and one with few:

I just tried the same release and the time i have to wait after unchecking a track is between 4-5 seconds...

Hm, i have no idea. Would you post or send me the Discogs_Script.log file? You can find it here: c:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\MediaMonkey\Scripts\Discogs_Script.log

I can't see a problem with the tagger.

Do you have the long delay with every release you try to tag?
When does the problem occur? Do you change an option in MediaMonkey? Did you install a new version of mediamonkey? Or update your Windows Version?
Something else changed before the problem occur?

You can try to re-install Mediamonkey and the Discogs Tagger. Uninstall other Addons from MediaMonkey.

Which version of windows you have? Do you use VPN ?
In the video i see, that Mediamonkey is not responding. This happens often?

Windows 10 (20H2), no VPN. I use soft firewall, but MM connection is allowed, and I tried with firewall disabled. Yes, MM is not responding while Discogs Tagger is fetching data (when I uncheck some tracks or cover).

There is another Tagger written by me. Discogs Batch Tagger. It's written in another programming language.
It do the same as the other Tagger with some features, like tagging more than one release at once.

It contains no virus / trojan or whatever. But sometimes anti-virus found something with heuristic generic search.

You can try this Tagger if you like. Write me, if you need help with it.

Hey thanks for your help! Yes, I can't seem to think why would Discogs Tagger start to behave like that. I tried Discogs Batch Tagger, it works without any freeze-up or delay. It takes few more clicks plus some time to get used to different UI, but it's much faster when making changes.

OK, of course I would find out what was the problem the moment I wrote my last post.

I tried to think what did I change in last year that Discogs Tagger started to behave differently, and the only thing was I switched from ESET Smart Security to Kaspersky. I disabled Kaspersky protection for test and there are no freeze-ups or delays anymore.
