This problem happens when no result is returned, because response message is changed. API developer is working on it now and it will be fixed on the server side soon, which will fix the problem for everyone. Check the thread below for the progress:

http://www.discogs.com/help/forums/topic/234648

ihartley: I intentionally avoid a fix release since server side fix will help everyone. I'm glad that you use & like discogs tagger :) I did my best to make it suit for user's needs. In the mean time, personal modifications shouldn't be too difficult, since the script is open source. Unfortunately this forum is the place where script writers are organized :-?

Hi,
This is a nice plugin.

I have a question. How do I quickly fill in just Style from Discogs to Genre field? I have 3k of my favourite tunes that are not organized in albums. It's a pain to do it manually with this tagger. I have to chose album first and then untick everything but the style filed. Are there any automatic filed fillers like that in WinAmp (gracenote has no idea about real genres :( ?

Thanks in advance!

You can untick everything and save the settings so that you don't have to untick again but it's overkill to use this script for filling just one field. Why don't you consider using Genre Finder plugin?

Tried loading this script but was unable to do so. It asks for a Discogs API key.
Somewhere else in this thread is a reference stating that the API key can be obtained from http://www.discogs.com/help/api.
That page, however, states that as of June 15th version 2 of the API is in use and that version does not need a key.
In fact, I signed up with them and tried to get a key but I can't figure out how to do so. I guess since no key is needed anymore, they don't give out keys anymore?
Any help would be appreciated.

I just installed the script on MM 4 BETA. I am still getting error #424. Is there something I missed?

never tested the script with MM4... anyway i have a few good news for you:

1) A new version is on the horizon
2) I'm moving the hosting to another place
3) I'm writing some script update/download management site so that we can gather statistics about plugin usage.

Soon...

Found it! It seems the API access key wasn't being copied to the .vbs script during installation... Did it manually and it works.

V3.2 is out!

- Mediatype combobox is divided into Media and Format comboboxes
- Small album art save function is saved
- Long country names are removed or shortened
- Error messages on search bar are not duplicated anymore
- Checking result count so that doesn't crash anymore (fixed also on the server side)
- Better handling of returned error in xml messages
- Please select from dropdown are removed (they were unneccessary and causing problems)
- Moved to a new hosting

I haven't used this script for awhile. It's always been my favorite. I am ripping cd's to mp3's and want to use the script for all track updates. I am running v3.2 and I have an api key. I am unable to get any results for a single track or album search. I get the same message every time. "Cannot query the web site - XML document must have a top level element."

I have tons of work I want to do so any advice is appreciated. Can discogs, or will it at any time in the future be able to add lyrics to available info for tags?

Thank you!

I'm not sure why, I had previously not only restarted MM but rebooted my machine which didn't solve the error. Well, I've returned and tried again and it seems to be working. Strange quirk?
