The tree structure in MM 5 vs MM 4
I did a test today to see if MM 5 can replace my MM 4 installation.
Immediatly I did find some changes that made me wonder if I have missed something. The layout and icons etc. makes it look more like a music store than a database.
In the tree view I cannot find the node "Entire Library>Location>Any Folder>All" anymore.
The All node is something that I always use in MM 4. And is there any settings in MM 5 to make it the library nodes work more like in MM 4?
And is it possible to have the skin more like MM 4. I miss the more effective use of the screen space in the old version.

For all node see: https://www.mediamonkey.com/wiki/WebHel ... ecursively
For Skin try Metro M (Tools > Options > Skins). Also with MediaMonkey 5.0.2 the Material Design can be set to compact.

Thanks it helped a bit. Now I am closer to see the same information that I am used to.Lowlander wrote: ↑Sat Oct 30, 2021 1:24 pm For all node see: https://www.mediamonkey.com/wiki/WebHel ... ecursively

But the All node is not there anymore. That's a real pity. I see that I can make the behaviour in the Main panel view work as before. But the All node is still missing. The tree function were very useful when editing tags. Now it's not possible anymore. The view is something different and is not useful in the same way.
Re: The tree structure in MM 5 vs MM 4
Hi,
All nodes in folders are still there but instead of Tree it is moved as an option in Main view (located as folder with + icon above main area left of view mode change button, especially when use list views).

Re: The tree structure in MM 5 vs MM 4
It functions the same way as the All nodes did in MediaMonkey 4, but without cluttering the Media Tree. You're still able to see all files in that and it's sub-nodes.

Re: The tree structure in MM 5 vs MM 4
Yes, but it is not a clear advantage. I don't think that it works as well in many situations.
Issues:
- It is was not much "clutter", was just a single leaf at a sub-node
- it was right where you needed it ... ie. if I am navigating via the Media Tree, it is right where I am looking and already have the mouse focused to ... The new solution is either way across the other side of the screen, or buried several levels deep in the menu you referred to
- the control is not easy to notice|find ... it is hidden except when you are in one of the two relevant nodes, and have navigated down far enough ... it causes a lot of confusion and frustration as you can see by the high number of complaints and queries here
- it is sticky, which makes it a PIA when dealing with large directories ... ie. if I was navigating through a large folder in MM4, it only unwinded through the whole directory tree if I explicitly pressed the All leaf ... but in MM5 it does this if I had the option toggled on the last time that I used MM5 ... I hate this
- it means that I can have the left hand panel permanently closed to maximise screen use ... this was how MM5 was designed to be used, but the implementation was botched (lack of MM5 Quick Start aids and lack of support in the online documentation) , so uptake of this appears to be marginal
- and having it being sticky is useful in some circumstances
You have fixed the other "error" that was causing frustration and confusion, ie. the lack of Media Tree sub-nodes.
I think that you should fix this error also.
Want a dark skin for MM5? This is the one that works best for me .. elegant, compact & clear.

and pray tell how do we do that. It might turn out to be useful someday. Especially if you deep six the candy corn vomit coloring.

5.0.2.2508, and yes I'm on the Blue and White Material design. The dark variant is too gross to deal with.

all that seems to do is change font size. It is the size of the bottom panel I'm concerned about.

Well, AFAIC this is another strike against your default skin. There's just a lot of wasted space on it. The "light" is easier to take though. As versatile as this Edition is, this is one area that needs improvement in that regard. BTW i know we went off on one point of the OPs list. As to what I thought I must say having the whole unit working as a file explorer is fantastic. Kudos
