A Few Very Usefull Tips for Improving MediaMonkey

Post by smoryobemag »

Dear Jiri,

Here are some tips that might be useful for a future version.
Maybe some of these functions are yet available, and I haven't found these yet. If so, I'd like to know where to find them / how to use them.

01. Customizable playlists according to genres.

It would be nice to make playlists according to categories like:
  • 80's
  • Prince
  • NO Jazz
  • NO Classic
  • NO 1981
  • NO Thriller (Michael Jackson)

So Mediamonkey plays all music from the 80's, except for 1981, including ALL music made by Prince (also later and earlier work), but leaves all classic & jazzmusic out, and Michael Jackson's Thriller album.

or,

  • 60's
  • 70's
  • Jazz
  • Disco
  • NO Miles Davis
  • NO 1977
  • NO Golden Hits (Boney M)

So Mediamonkey plays all Jazz & Discomusic from the 60's & 70's, except for 1977, excluding all music made by Miles Davis and Bony M's Golden Hits-album.

02. Improved 'SEARCH'-option.

Maybe it's also possible to improve the 'SEARCH' option in such a way that you can search for tracks with the specifications stated in 01, so you can add these files to a new playlist.

03. Scan for removed albums/tracks in a certain location.

This function would be nice to do a fastscan for albums that are no longer present at a certain location (for example the HDD) and removes missing tracks from the database after confirmation.

04. Display Album-art.

With the new ID2-specifications it's possible to store small JPEG-files in the MP3's, called Album-art. It would be great if MediaMonkey had an option for displaying the Album-art somewhere in the interface.

Thnx in advance!

Kind regards,

1&2. I think that you can accomplish all this using Advanced queries of the Gold version.

3. Check 'Files to Edit\Dead Links' node, I think it's what you are looking for.

4. This is planned, I think it will be supported in the next version (no guarantees ).

OK, thnx for the answers, Jiri. I've found what I've been looking for

but...

Still one thing remains:

I am using this program on a PC connected to a television (800x600 pixels) for use in the living room. Therefor I want to enlarge the FONTS for readability and viewing pleasure. I've set every font in Windows 98 to 12, but MediaMonkey seems to keep the fonts in it's original small size.

Can you tell me how I can increase the fontsize? Or is there a possibility to build this into the next version?

With regards,

Arjan,

there is a setting in Windows Display options to choose between Normal and Large fonts, that should work in MediaMonkey.
