folder.jpg is listed as cover artwork dozens of times

Hi,

I just noticed a sort of funny issue. I use a "folder.jpg" picture stored in each album folder as cover artwork for all my albums.
Since recently the file gets linked numerous and dozens of times in all files I just checked. I must assume all of my library is affected.

That screenshot is just an example. Albums I added recently have their folder.jpg linked "only" four to ten times. Other albums go up to more than 40 instances of the same artwork file!


I'm on build 2823 at the moment. Unfortunately I can't tell if the issue just started with this build or if it was present before as well. I didn't pay attention earlier.

As of now I have no Idea what causes this phenomenon and how to reproduce it.
I deleted all artwork instances except for one on some albums and tried a few manipulations with some tracks (editing Tags and artwork and auto-organizing them) but I couldn't make the additional artwork links appear again.

But I still wanted to bring this to your attention. Maybe you can make something of that regardless.

There was a bug in the past, however this shouldn't happen on recent beta builds. If you do find this still happening (more Artworks get auto-added) please try to capture this in a debug log (step 4b).

thanks for your quick reply!
I checked and it looks like I have installed 2823 only only on Sunday after I have added my last cover artwork. So I don't have any albums that prove the issue is actually present in build 2823.
However before that I was on 2822 and some albums I have added on that build are definitely affected.

On which build was this bug (supposed to be) fixed?

Hey Lowlander,

I did something drastic. I deleted my database and re-scanned my whole music collection yesterday evening.
Today I already have two links to the folder.jpg in most albums I checked. A few albums were fine as well but I couldn't see a pattern.
But we can at least safely say that the issue is present in the latest build.

Do you have information on the past bug that you mentioned in your last post? Or a link to the Bugtracker ticket?
The more information I have on it, the more likely it is that I can reproduce it and catch it in a log.

What actions have you done since? Have you done any scanning (including Folder Monitoring's Startup scan) and/or any tagging?

Yes, I use Startup Scan + Continuously.
I didn't do any tagging in the meantime.

Maybe it has something to do with scanning. I restarted MM a few times and watched the artwork on some albums.
It indeed looks like an artwork entry is added every time an album is scanned.
I started MM and cancelled the scan manually immediately. -> No new artwork link.
I let the scan continue. -> New artwork link.

I made a debug viewer log of one of those starts with auto scan and will send it via a ticket in a minute. I cancelled the Scan after a while, then closed MM again, so the log file does not get too big.
