hi.

I understand we cannot decide once and for all what columns/fields to display and their respective order in the various collections view. Too bad.

From what I understood, we need to create automated playlists for that. Fine. However, even after having done that, and closing properly MMW and re-opening it, sometimes the columns field and order is right, but sometimes, it is not and I have to re-do the whole thing.

Am I missing something? Am I doing something wrong? Or is this a known bug that will be once solved?

Are you trying to have different settings per Playlist, because that's not possible.

No, I'm just trying to fix oe, and happy if all the others need to be the same.

If I tweak the columns as I want from the edit section of the automated playlists, it works, but if I go back to those settings, sometimes what I asked for is entirely gone.

Please try with the latest MediaMonkey 2024.2 beta. Does that work better? If not, something specific seem to trigger the lost column settings?

Forum discussions have shown that lots of users find the column width configuration process confusing, with MM's ability to blow away user configurations without warning a particular gripe. Development has been complicated by different users expressing different preferences about how views should be managed - options seem divided between:

• a different configuration for each view (ie one for Playlists and a different one for Album View and a different one for Artists) and

• one configuration that can be applied to all views.

The current functionality leans towards a different configuration for each view, but what actually constitutes a different view I haven't seen defined. If you haven't already explored user-defined views, it is possible that this might offer you the stability you are quite reasonably expecting. My experience over several years is that attention from the Devs has enabled MM to be more respectful of user-defined views.

I suggest that you set your own custom view configuration via the Manage Views dialog (View Elements menu via the down arrow next to the double burger menu icon top right of the main file view pane) to see whether that helps to preserve the column configuration that you're looking for.
