Rescanning for changed MP3 tags

Post by Tim »

Hello,
I was wondering if there was anyway to get Songs-DB to reload the MP3 tags for files it already has in its database. It seems to not read the changed tags and apply them to its database. I don't want to delete the database and start over fresh since I'm using the excellent volume normalization feature on a rather large database.

Oh, and I pretty consistently get error on closing Songs-DB. Both on a Windows 98 and a Windows XP computer.

Thanks for any help you can provide,

Tim

Currently tags are never re-scanned for songs that are in the database. It should not be necessary when you update all tag information in Songs-DB only. An option to rescan will be added at some time, but it will destroy all changes made in Songs-DB only, so I would recommend not to update tags outside.

For that error - I would be pleased if you could check this forum post (http://www.songs-db.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=69) and do the steps described there in order to send me more information about it.

Thanks,

Jiri,
Thanks for your response. I understand that this isn't an issue if I just use Songs-DB. However, I'm using a different model. I mirror two computers with the same sets of songs. I update the songs on my main computer and then use a program to copy the changed files to the computer in my living room over the network. That is why I'd appreciate the option to rescan tags. It wouldn't be a problem for me if it would wipe any changes made in Songs-DB as long as it leaves the volume normalization information the same.

Excellent program by the way. I use it for karaoke mp3+G playing. The sound normalization is very important for karaoke since the mp3 has to be mixed with the microphone.
