I know this mentioned before, but this is a slightly different request. I would like to see in the search that when searching for nino it picks up niño as well. In other words that a search for a standard character picks up the non standard characters (ie. c = ç, ss = ß, n = ñ, e = é,ë,è,Ê, ect).
The same could be done with the player. If such a character is encountered when a song is played MM should send it's main version to the player, so info is fairly complete (ie. for niño it sends nino to player). As everything is capitalized it doesn't really matter if the player supports non-traditional characters or not, as long as these are translated to their main varriant, instead of leaving a space.
I would also like to see that when info from tags is used to create the filename it saves using these non-traditional characters. Currently they are translated to their main variant (é is saved as e). The ñ is already supported here.
I guess the lack of support for these non-traditional, but fairly common characters in other countries, comes from WinAmp and the way they skin (users create character maps for WinAmp to use).
Urgency: Would like to see that soon
Non traditional character support
