How do I interface MM4 with my library on Acer H340 NAS
Hi, I am a relative newcomer to the world of digital music so I apologize for the really dumb questions which are about to follow. My music library is held on an Acer H340 NAS which uses WHS V1. I currently have Asset UPnP (DLNA compatible) audio server installed onto the NAS and use this almost exclusively to access the music library using a range of equipment: PS3, PSP, Onkyo TR1009 AVR, Asus Transformer TF101 tablet and even an iPod Touch. My main question is how will MM4 which presumably will be downloaded to my desktop PC be incorporated into this current set-up ? Will it mean that the PC will have to be powered up all the time or do I load up MM4 onto the NAS. Will I no longer require the Asset UPnP? At the moment, I have not downloaded the MM4, so I am really starting from scratch.

MediaMonkey isn't designed for WHS (although if you search you may find if others were successful with installing it). How MediaMonkey fits in depends on your needs.
- MediaMonkey can access the files over DLNA from the NAS like the other programs, but no tagging can be done.
- MediaMonkey can access the files over regular network share (use UNC path) which will allow tagging/deletion/moving of files
- MediaMonkey can serve as DLNA server, however this is not necessary. The main benefit of using MediaMonkey as DLNA server would be that Auto-Playlists can be shared whereas this wouldn't be possible with Asset UPnP (although this addon can automate regular export of Playlists including Auto-Playlists: http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... ilit=child). Also MediaMonkey would track play counts over DLNA and can scrobble DLNA plays to last.fm. The drawback would be that the PC with MediaMonkey would need to be on.
- MediaMonkey can also sync with portable devices like the iPod Touch.
