Files to Edit: Unknown Tracknr

Post by Hixbb »

I've got lots of albums with missing track numbers. Finding these would be much easier, if there was a function for "Unknown Tracknr." in the "Files to Edit"-Tree. It should display all files where an album is specified, but no tracknr. Would this be possible?

That seems to be a possibly useful feature, but on the other hand you can quite easily achieve the same by creating an auto-playlist where all such tracks would be shown. I prefer this solution, because it's more general.

I'm quite new to Media Monkey, so maybe i'm just not seeing something. When i want to create a new auto-playlist, there is no field for tracknr. So how do i enter a condition like "tracknr = NULL"? And for Album, there is only "contains", "starts with" and "equals". How can i say "Album != NULL"?
This brings me to another (possibly) useful feature: A field where you can enter the SQL-WHERE-string. For anybody how knows about SQL this might be helpful.

Another way

You could also sort on track # in any list and you would easily see which tracks miss the number.

But then i wouldn't have the additional criteria that there should be an album specified.
Don't get me wrong, i love this software, i'm not complaining. I already bought the gold version. It's just a thing i think would improve it even more.[/quote]

The condition for track number would be: track#<1. However, you are right, I forgot that there currently isn't a way to specify that you want to see all tracks that have album filled in. We are going to add further options to the advanced query, I'll see what can we do.

As for entering SQL, that's a good idea, but I'm afraid that only a very small part of users would use it and thus I would prefer to add further features to the current query system.

Plugin

Maybe someone can write a plugin for that? That way the advanced users can add it in and play with it and the normal users aren't confused by this.

And when a third party writes it other features that are useful to more users can be taken care off.

I made a quick'n'dirty Access-script that uses the database directly to solve this problem. Posted it in the developer-forum.
Not very elegant, but works for me. No i've got a lot of numbering to do...
