ODBC - No such collation sequence:IUNICODE

There are many topics relating to the "No such collation sequence:IUNICODE" problem, but I can't find any recent activity about connecting via ODBC.
I'm connecting an access database to the MM DB via ODBC (no code involved) and in some tables am getting the collation error.

It's a custom sort implemented by MM to include unicode characters, I'm not aware of any workaround for it.
