MMW sync playcount

Just for clarification, is play count synced via USB at the moment? I see that it does sync correctly via wifi, but when I connect my phone to MMW via USB the playcount (at least) doesn't get updated. I think I saw a thread recently, but I can't find it to verify whether this is currently as designed or if it's supposed to work.

Playcount should sync over WiFi or USB. Seems to work correctly between MMA 145 and MMW 1644.
