Syncing from device to PC folder structure

Post by bluestarCVO »

Hey all. Need some help on an issue dealing with syncing new content I download on my device back to the server. I can get new content on my device to sync to the PC no problem, but I do not like the folder structure it puts the music in on my PC. Instead of Music/Artist/Album/track name.mp3, it puts it as Music/Storage/Emulated/0/Music/Artist/Album/track name.mp3. Is there anyway to change this behavior on the PC so that it keeps the same structure as my existing music? Thanks.

I hope my post made sense and is not too confusing. Just to clarify a little bit: A lot of times I download music directly to my phone. Well, when MMA syncs with MMW, I want the new music download on my phone to sync to MMW. I've been successful in doing this by enabling "Auto-sync device content" under Sync Location/Settings on my device. The only problem is that, as stated in my post above, it is not placing the files in the correct folder structure on my PC. I know there is an option to change the folder structure for files being synced to the device, but what about the other way around, files being synced to the server? Anybody know what I am talking about?

When I go to Tools->Options->Portable Device Sync->Samsung GS3-Card->Configure->Auto-Sync(-->Library)

the list of 'folders', default dim because 'Auto-Sync New Files and Playlists' is not checked. If you check this and then the 'destination' prompt below the list becomes available and you can select the drive/folder that the files should go to.

Is this what you are looking for?

Hello and thanks for the reply. I do have my music folder set as the destination path, and the files do go to that location upon sync. The problem the folder structure ends up like this on the PC:
Music/Storage/Emulated/0/Music/Artist/Album/track name.mp3
It is carrying over the folder structure from my device and then placing that in the music folder on the computer. I would like the folder structure on the computer to be like this:
Music/Artist/Album/track name.mp3. I'm not sure why it insists on carrying over the storage/emulated/0/ path with it.

Yeah I don't think that is *directly* possible. Once they are on the PC you can use some of the 'auto' functions to help move to folder structures you like.
