Some tracks sound distorted in MediaMonkey [#16658]

Hey,
First time posting here, i'v been using MediaMonkey for a while now without issues...
The majority of my music plays fine, except for a couple of tracks and albums sound awful and distorted. (I'd say roughly around 20 tracks out of the 11K tracks i have sound bad)
I'v found that some tracks sound awful, distorted and clip in MediaMonkey, but not in other players...
When I went to edit one of those troublesome tracks in Audacity, to remove the clipping and distortion. I found that before editing anything, the playback sounded good.
Which prompted me to test playing the track in: Windows Media Player, VLC and even FL Studio
All of which sounded fine, without any issues.
It seems to be a isolated issue with MediaMonkey, and I'm not sure why
Any help please?
Thanks

Disable Play > Level Playback Volume and play those files again. Do they now sound good?

I'v already tried that and it didn't work
Did google before posting here, I also tried changing the output and input settings.
But that didn't help either...
Like i said there is like 20 of 11,000 tracks that are bad and distorted, yet sound fine in other players, which is weird :|

Well i thought it sent, but it didn't...
Came back with:
We encountered a problem (cross-site request forgery detected); please try again"
"Sorry, we encountered a problem (invalid department). Please start over."
Did try sending it again, but came back with those two messages again.
The department i chose was "MediaMonkey for Windows tech support" and Priority set to low, attached the WAV file which is 78.6 MB which could be the problem?

Make sure attachments are no larger than 2MB, if larger use a file sharing service like Dropbox and include a link to it in the Support Ticket.

To followup on ggsmit's post. I tried turning off Leveling and turning off the equalizer and neither worked. What finally worked for me was going into Options then selecting Output Plugins after that pressed the "Configure..." button on the Direct Sound output plugin. By disabling hardware acceleration it seems to have fixed my problem.
I think this may be a new issue, since I hadn't noticed any distortion on any of my music until today (except when I go crazy with the equalizer). But today at least a quarter of the songs I listened to suffered from distortion.

Hi,
Hmmm interesting. Usually "disabling hardware acceleration" it means that MMW uses old WAVE MAPPER and not advanced Sound features.
In the past usually it is fixed by reinstalling Sound Card Drivers.
Can you please make screenshot of your device manager -> Sound and Video devices? I am curious what is different on your system?

Any update on this.
I have found the same. Most tracks I play on Media Monkey are crystal clear. But I have a couple of tracks that sound very distorted. They are MP3 Backing tracks. When I play them on Windows media player they are clear but not on Media Monkey.
I have not levelled volume, unselected equalizer, used different outputs (speakers v headphones) and get the same results.
It is weird. I don't understand why it is not all tracks.

Which version of MediaMonkey and to confirm, Play > Level Playback Volume is off in the Main Menu?

Latest version 4.1.27.1897
and Level Playback is not on.
I have used MM for a long time now and it is only recently say the last few months, I have noticed this. It is weird that they sound perfect in Windows Media Player but distorted in Media Monkey and it is only a couple of tracks.

You may want to offer a copy to Support for analysis:
https://www.mediamonkey.com/support/ind ... ets/Submit
You may have to use a cloud service to share by including a link to it in the Support Ticket as files over 2MB are not accepted.

I have had the same issues as described in this thread.
Out of every 10 songs 1 or 2 were awfull when played.
Many distortions, hissing, loud ticks.
I tried various solutions from this thread.
I had leveled all songs but I'm not happy with the end results.
Many songs still sound way to soft/minimal and some are still quite loud.
So I ran leveling another pass... I know, it should not make a difference but strangely it DID !
Some songs out of every 10-20 were very distorted.
Now when I re-ran the leveling ANOTHER pass, some of the distortions were GONE!
When I untick the option "Level Playback Volume" in the main menu, Play,
ALL sounds well again, but ofcourse without using the Leveling completely.
So, I guess the Leveling system and Leveling Playback are something to work on.
And the results are the same in the new MM5 beta version by the way.
Leveling is not optimal their either and the same hisses and kracks/pops can
be heard when Leveling is enabled...
