Registration failed: Activation failed

MediaMonkey for Windows Gold license keys go through an activation process to complete the registration. If you receive a message that activation failed, it means that our licensing system doesn’t have a record of your MediaMonkey Gold license username/key as entered. If you just purchased MediaMonkey from us, then it’s probably a transient issue and can be resolved by trying to ‘Activate’ again when prompted the next time you run MediaMonkey.

If activation continues to fail, it can be because:

  • Your key was changed in relation to a licensing issue, and our licensing system doesn’t contain a record of the updated key.
  • Your license was obtained from an unaffiliated third party and is invalid / counterfeit. This is most often the case with licenses from kinguin, blitzhandel24, lizenzguru, g2a, k4g, key city, electronic first, gamivo, and various other ebay storefronts.

In such cases, Gold functionality will remain active for 14 days, giving you time to complete the registration process. To resolve this:

  • If you purchased your license from the MediaMonkey website, contact our helpdesk (sales) and open a ticket with the subject ‘Registration failed: key cannot be activated’. Provide us with your license username and key and the original sales receipt containing the purchase/sales reference number
  • If you obtained a MediaMonkey 2024 or lifetime license from a third party, it is a counterfeit license. Please consider supporting our efforts and purchasing a legitimate license from our website. We’re passionate about MediaMonkey, but passion can’t fund its development ;-)

We try to deal with such issues quickly, and thank you in advance for your patience.
