Then you can see how the new version works without disturbing your current MM2. May be worth a shot.
Yeah, not a bad idea. I should really upgrade anyway, so I'll give it a go. For the moment I've come up with a way to work round the problem (don't know why I didn't think of it before); I don't use the Custom 2 tag for anything so I've created an auto playlist which includes only music that has 'Current' in the Custom 2 field, and then I sync only that playlist. Not ideal but it's still preferable to using a different program.

Thanks for all the help you've been given anyway. I'll post up if upgrading helps, in case anyone else comes here with a similar issue.

The only other thing I've noticed is that I use half star ratings, while the Zen doesn't do half stars. Media Monkey has (and I nearly fainted when I noticed) updated the ratings on the PC to match those on the Zen. I can work my system round not using half stars, and I've managed to get the library reorganised (e.g. after everything that was 3 or 3.5 stars ended up just 3, effectively merging the two), and I'm wondering if maybe it kept updating the ratings to match, since the amount of tracks it kept re-synching was about the same number of tracks that I've rated. I'm trying that anyway, and hopefully it'll work.

Thanks for the pointer.

Ok, I've tried this and it still hasn't helped. I've looked at my music library and there are 1346 songs on which the timestamp is about 3 minutes ago (I just turned on my machine and loaded MM up, and synched). I haven't touched my PC since I posted the message above, so why has the timestamp been updated? Literally all I did was open MM, right click the device and press auto-sync.

Thanks for any help, ModoX.

Just wanted to post some info here for the benefit of others.

I am using MM 3.03.1183 on a PC running WinXP Pro SP2. My music files are on a server (Ubuntu w/ Samba). My mp3 player is a Sansa c250 (c200 series) in auto-detect (MTP) mode.

Whenever I would plug in my Sansa, MM would not recognize any of the music I had already synced on the device. This happened every time, regardless of how I configured the time-stamp update option, autoconversion (to lower bitrate), track leveling, etc.

What seemed to solve this sync problem for me was EITHER adjusting the clocks on my two computers according to this Knowledgebase article: http://www.mediamonkey.com/support/inde ... 13&nav=0,1

OR setting the file location to root and the file name to <album> - <filename>, as recommended here (for the Sansa e200 series, which I think is very similar to the c200 series):
http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... &sk=t&sd=a

I changed the clock settings first, but didn't test this config thoroughly before changing the path settings. Changing the path sealed the deal; it now seems to work like a charm.

Cheers,
WRE

I have a Sansa e250 with RockBox and MM ver. 3.0.2.1134. If I use autosync, only the new songs are copied. It would be nice to be able to use "Send to...", but right now I'm happy with how things are working.

Hi all,

I have an iPod Classic 80GB, I read this thread and installed the latest MM Beta 3.0.3.1177.

It doesn't sync changes, it always sync full (copies my entire library to the ipod).

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Perhaps you can help, I've tried many a time to get a definitive answer to this and failed every time. What do you mean by the above? I understand the alternative "mode" to MSC is MTP, but how is it possible to configure my system to change between the two?

I'm not a very advanced user, but I'm a keen learner! Please be gentle with me

I don't have an iPod, so I can't really tell you. Off the top of my head, MSC is Mass Storage Class, which is used for a removable drive connected by USB. And MTP is Media Transfer Protocol, which is Microsoft's way of implementing their DRM nonsense (Plays For Sure etc.). My clix can do either mode, selectable in the device's menus. iPods have their own Apple DRM, but I don't know how it works on a PC. Sorry.

Mike.

cool, that was really fast.
I cross fingers!

A small bug was just fixed and the fix will appear in the next release (very soon). So please check it out and in case there's still a problem, please e-mail me more details - like a debug log.

I noticed that a few month ago, it could already be a year and I'm really tired of watching what I have already synced and what not.
I'm converting all my files to another format, when syncing to me mp3-Player so each sync process takes a long time for me at the moment.

@Developers: It's time for you to react and fix that!

I just came across this thread whilst looking for something else. I have been using MM 3.0.2.1134 for about three weeks, so I am far from expert. But I have not had any problem syncing about 6 or 7 GB of music with my clix 2. MM doesn't copy everything, just what has changed. (And I say that without any smugness whatsoever. Well, perhaps just a little..)

In case it helps I am using UMS/MSC mode, and I always sync using Sync to Device > Auto-synchronize after setting up a sync list using Sync to Device > Options. Not knowing any better, I assumed that was the logical way to do it, but not everyone seems to do it that way. It might work for you.. Or perhaps clixes are just a bit special.
