I am moving Cue Ripper to "Installed & Removed" in my archive.
Thanks for the nudge towards foobar2000.

Yep. I understood that. As I said, that is the next step.

Just tested right clicking .CUE in Windows Explorer and Open With foobar2000. Works a treat. Setting foobar2000 as default association for .CUE.

ok well, cue tools only test lossless files, so if converting to mp3 I suppose it doesn't matter as much for you, but as I recall there is a thread on the foobar forums about cue splitter. If I find it, I'll link it here.

Hmmm. That got interesting. FYI, I have (so far)

Installed foobar2000
http://www.foobar2000.org/
http://www.foobar2000.org/download

Added foobar support for Monkey's Audio (APE)
http://www.foobar2000.org/components/vi ... put_monkey

Configured foobar to use my command line lame(3.98.2) encoder (during the initial foobar convert dialog)
http://www.free-codecs.com/download/Lame_Encoder.htm

Downloaded but not yet installed Cue Tools
http://cuetools.net/doku.php/cuetools:cuetools

Completed initial test as follows:
In foobar
- Open CUE file
- Select all tracks
- Convert to MP3(lame, highest quality, NOT fast)

In MM
- Used Trix's PUID Generator script to get PUIDs for both foobar tracks and previously generated Cue Splitter/MM tracks.
- Compared PUIDs for same tracks.

Results:
- Took a bit of work to get foobar up and running. Links above should help other users get to the same point.
- foobar, once installed, is simpler and faster to use than the Cue Splitter + MM approach I used previously.
- PUIDs were identical using either approach.

Next step.
- More investigation of accuraterip, including, suggested testing.

cue splitter does not split correctly.

you can test by using cue tools with accuraterip:

test the source file to make sure its accuraterip
test the cue splitter files to see if they are still accurate
test the foobar split files to see if they are still accurate

OK. But why?

Here is what I wanted to do (and did successfully).

- Create discrete track APE from a CD Image APE+Cue
- Transcode APE to 256K VBR Mp3

Cue Splitter did the first task quite nicely. MM handled the second.

I did have foobar installed at one time but did not install it on this system. I am trying to do as much as possible within MM and avoid tools that don't have a demonstrated need. e.g. I don't use any Apple i* products, so I have no need for iTunes.

Thanks for the reference. FYI, the software can be downloaded from:

Edit:
This tool requires latest version of Monkey's Audio as well for APE + Cue support.

Folks..
Using MM and love it!!! I think the forum has already answered my q, but want to assure. I have 5 CDImage.ape and CDImage.cue files that I can 'play' with MM, but not load into the library..
I "think" i have to use a software program to parse the CDImage.ape into smaller files to allow loading into MM as MM cannot read the CUE file to know how to load the image.. correct?
If I'm off, you see my goal.. load the tracks into the library of MM :-)

Thanks in advance for helping a newbie!

Wayne
