In answer to your questions:
1. I think it would be annoying to have CD #1 assigned to all CDs that have only 1 CD, but that's my opinion...
2. Mass editing of properties is designed so that when a property is empty in all tracks, the property appears empty. On the other hand, if all tracks or some of the tracks have a single value, that value will be displayed so that you can easily apply it to all of the tracks.
3. We'll keep this in mind when we tackle
