Ok.
The bug in the music files can't be there all the time since it playes without any pop at all if i try to play the song a second time, and the pop was there the first time.
It seems to me that the bug is rather periodic..

The pop is caused only to tracks that have been edited somehow with MM, and the update will not fix tracks with the problem, just prevent it from happening to new wav tracks.

I played some of the files, that pop'ed in MM 3.1.0.1256, with a sound editing program called Audacity, but no pop! At the end of the files it was silece and nothing out of the ordinary to see/hear..
Sometimes the files played without pop even in MM! Most of the files where ripped with itunes, others with MM. The pop can occure with either files, itunes or MM.
Really hope the update can fix the annoying bug!

Technical Service says the problem has been identified and will be resolved in the next build (1300). Unfortunately, WAV files that are already corrupted must be manually edited to remove the POP. Here's the link to the trouble ticket:

I haven't gotten a response yet on my trouble ticket, but it's only been a few days anyway. Probably a lot of effort right now is being put to getting Media Monkey to sync with the iPhone 3.0 OS, so I wouldn't be surprised if it takes a while....

Is there any update from MM tech support regarding tagging issue yet?
I hope there is a solution soon.

I have submitted a trouble ticket with Support because I too have this problem. It appears to be a WAV tagging issue, whereby the tags added by Media Monkey get interpreted as audio data.

I have provided Support with two WAV files. The first file is an original WAV recording made from a vinyl LP using Adobe Soundbooth CS4. The second file is a copy of the first that was opened and tagged by Media Monkey and has the audible pop. Simply opening both files with a text editor reveals that the second file has text tags added at the very end of the file.

Hopefully, this will help the developers reach a fast solution. I would like to see a function that will remove tags entirely from WAV files. I don't need them because I use a tree structure and file names to identify what's in each WAV file. I also don't want the additional data there--It just makes the file even more longer. Does anyone know if a script already exists to remove WAV tags? I haven't been able to find one yet.

I would contact support on this issue so you can send a copy of a file along.

I record 16 bit 44kHz Wave files, and........
Just noticed that when I'm running other programs (like Excel or Access), Wave files that don't have the digital data at the end also sometimes "pop". To my ear, the same sound but on examination of the file with NGWave, no annoying data at the end. Seems to be related to memory usage. Can't say if its related to the latest update - don't recall it happening before 3.1.0.1256. The digital data problem surfaced with version 3.0.4.1185 about August 2008 when I updated some track listings. And then, every track that popped had the extra data which is not the case now.

See: http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... =1&t=40990

Do you have similar encoded WAV files?

I know what "bkkmd" is talking about but not the solution. The noise is digital data about the track, written by MediaMonkey at the end of the Wave file when the User changes track information. I read something somewhere on the MediaMonkey site about a solution but was in a hurry and did not record it - haven't found it since.
I'd appreciate someone posting the solution. Regards

I am not quite sure what you mean by "making page file larger"
I tried playing with buffer ahead and prebuffer a bit. That seems to eliminate
popping sound on some tracks but not all.

Well... I am going away for a week and will come back and see what else I can try
to eliminate the problem.

Thanks for your help

then it must be the small cache on your system. as i said the wav is uncompressed so that will take more room in the cache file, then the flac format will.

try doing the second thought i said make your page file larger.

and no you said the usb2 in your first post i just read past it and when i was thinking of what to do or try to do i forgot you said it.
