Kuck, please create a debug log while recreating this error: http://mediamonkey.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=69

Hi,

quick update from my side, I have upgraded to 3.2.1.1297 and I did not get this error message for a while - thought it was fixed. I also have not used my Plantronics headset for a while.

Just this morning, when I plugged in my Plantronics headset (USB) and Mediamonkey was just open in the background, I got the error again.

I know people are not frequently checking back here, but maybe any of you with a plantronics headset are experiencing the same thing?

Could those two things be related?

Thanks.

kuck

I'm using the newest media monkey gold and getting the error just when a new song is played
but not everytime a song is played. Just randomly.

So i can't say at all what the reason for this message with the clipboard could be.

But a solution would be appreciated!

Hi,

I am experiencing the same problem as you guys. It just randomly happens that I get this error message. Mostly during using the quicksearch.

Here is how I got to my error (maybe this will give clues as to why it is happening):

- First I had Windows 7 installed and version 3.2.0.1294, everything was working fine after I installed MM
- Then I had to reinstall Windows 7 due to a hard drive upgrade - This time I decided to have MM running in a way that it saves all the settings and database from one directory (i.e. portable mode)
- After installing it I first had to follow instructions from here: http://www.mediamonkey.com/wiki/index.p ... w_computer
- Then, I followed the instructions given here: http://www.mediamonkey.com/wiki/index.p ... ediamonkey with the execption that for me, the path is really a local path as I just want to avoid having to reinstall and reconfigure Mediamonkey when decide to reinstall Windows.

One more thing, I did not reinstall MediaMonkey, but simply started it from my previous installation.

Ever since then I got the error message once in a while. It would be nice to know if other people with the same problem have undergone similar steps to get where they are.

Any comments appreciated.

Best regards,

kuck

I have started getting various errors messages with MM3 3.2.1294 running Win 7 x64.

One of which is "Cannot open clipboard".
I am not even trying to use copy paste (the clipboard).

This program should be more robust by now.

@Rusty:
typing 2 characters in Notepad, copying them, and pasting them back in Notepad seems to resolve the issue temporarily.
I suffered this issue for months, and found this thread. I was able to fix it using your method.
However, a while ago, for no obvious reason, it started again.
I again applied this trick of yours, and it's working fine again.

Until ....

Just wanted to note that just now for the first time ever here, I got this error popup during or right after startup - i.e. without doing anything! I started up MM by double clicking and right away changed to another program, so I didn't even have the window focus on MM. A few seconds later I heard the error sound.

I've been randomly seeing this with 1294. Never saw it prior. Though I never see it when trying to paste anything into MM. Seems to occur when I bring it up from the taskbar and attempt to click on something (such as a track in the main window, or a node in the tree.)

Thanks for the suggestion and sorry for the late reply. But I tried to replicate the error the way you described and wasn't able to, so I thought I would just keep on trying and experimenting. But using the notepad method (ctrl+c/ctrl+v with 2 chars) I cannot reproduce it. Still, the bug pops up every now and then usually when interacting with the quick search form and/or clicking in the song list.

Hi,

We discovered a bug that causes slowness in the MM UI when thousands of tracks are copied to the clipboard:
http://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=6187

Can you tell me whether doing the following solves the problem you're experiencing?
1 open notepad and type 2 characters
2 Copy and paste the 2 characters (in notepad)
3 Go back to MediaMonkey and observe whether the issue crops up (without copying thousands of tracks)

Thanks.

It seems to occur more often, again. When it occurred once, probability seems to be higher for repeated occurrences soon. Sorry, no consistent reproducability :x just single-clicking on songs e.g. in search results list. I click on a song, notice that no album art (selected song) appears at once and half a second later the message apears.

I sent a couple of debug logs online within the last two weeks or so, maybe that helps!?

The error sucks, but if it's only me that gets this error maybe it's my specific system configuration...

Please let us know if you can repro in 1276--a couple of memory leaks were fixed...could be related. If you have any set of steps that consistently triggers it let us know... I can't reproduce :(

It's marked as "fixed" for 1275 but still get the error message - right after installing 1275, playing a song and removing some files from now playing. Sorry! :-?

So I guess if you fixed something and can't reproduce it any more then this is a different / more complex problem  BTW I didn't paste anything in the search box.

I was able to reproduce this by pasting a large amount of text/urls into the search bar.

Thanks!

OK I understand, but unfortunately I can't provide a clear set of steps to reproduce the problem, seems to be very situational. I got this problem quite often in the previous beta cycle (several times a day, starting with 1256, never (!) before), now very infrequently. I thought it had something to do with an overfilled or temporary locked clipboard, but that was just a wild guess. Sometimes I was able to repeat the error once again by doing the same thing, but not often - so it seems to be a situational thing. Maybe other software locks up the clipboard?!

I was hoping you might be able to get an insight from the error message text or the debug logs...

BTW from Log I wonder why you have chosen Application Path "C:\Dokumente und Einstellungen\user\MediaMonkey3" instead of default ?
Good question - I'm not really sure  maybe some stupid decision back from the time I had versions 2 and 3 installed simultaneously.

Thanks for your replies.
