MM3 latest version:
while waiting for the result for a search I started Debugview to get the DB lock times..

So in this case it was not a autoplaylist, but just a break for coming up with the search results taking approximately ~30 seconds. (result included 33 files)

No, I meant the first time you open a specific playlist it takes a long time to load, the second time opening the same playlist is noticeably faster,

in this case it was not the first playlist I opened! Maybe this was before I started debugging. I cleaned first part with start up and couple of other playlists which I tried first.

Then - that does not help in any way if it's only for the first time because most of the playlists I am openning and working with I open only once - but this has to be way faster than 30-60 or more seconds!

I remember a situation Dj-ing. A dance instructor came to check the music for his performance. I selected one of my playlists including the type of songs he was looking for and it took was more than a minute. Do you have an idea how stupid you look as a DJ using such software! :( This is when I really think I need to look for something else what is a pitty because I like MM a lot and use it a lot..
I already had to stop using MM to playback the music because it is way to unreliable for that. So I use winamp to playback and MM only for organizing and searching. But if this continues to take minutes I can't go on with that.. :(

It seems most prevalent the first time you open an AutoPlaylist. If you open the same AutoPlaylist again it will run faster (despite that it's set to show a complete different file list each time). So for testing you should restart MediaMonkey and then test right away. The Location node seems to suffer from the same fate.

ok here you go:
(I am really disappointed, I hoped very much that this will be better in MM4, because I am on the edge of stopping to use MM3 because of that..)

I took me exactly 1 try to reproduce this..
Started MM4 1399 fresh install, no addons.
fresh database, no background processes.
No working with any other programm meanwhile - just MM running.

It was not extremely long, but definitely to long to work with it.. I did not stop, but it took about 30-60 seconds to open that autoplaylist searching for "cumparsita" in file names. Debugging window showed some action while MM did not come up with the results..

You need to download the debugviewer program, it's all explained in a stickied post in the bug reports forum...

ok it is NOT related to file/path queries.

I just opened a fresh install of MM4 without any addons.
as fresh MM4 database with my music.
no background process going on.

Selecting an autoplaylist showing all 4-5* rated tracks and 5 different genres took about 30 seconds to load. (~2500 tracks a result)

how does the debugging work on MM4 portable? I installed the debug version, but I don't know how to get the logging information..

Portable installations don't use the registry at all.

besides the fact that my win 7 installation is not very old, so registry should not be to much of a mess - why is the windows-registry such an issue useing MM4 portable?! how can win registry interfere with search result in MM?

I can't replicate this issue. Does the problem only occur with an autoplaylist where criteria are 'Filename/Path' contains <drive>:/path ? I tried to replicate, but cannot.

On the other hand, as described at http://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=7985 , robojock indicated that he sometimes finds that 'Find more from same' results in delays of _minutes_ to open the files. I wonder if these two issues are related.

So far I haven't been able to replicate such huge delays in either case.
