I've created a wiki page about last.fm scrobbler plugin info.

Please check it out and feel free to add/edit info.

scrobbler plugin is in <mm program folder>\plugins

v1 (old style): gen_audioscrobbler.dll (this is the one with the config via tools > options > player > general plugins > plugin config

v2 (new style): gen_wa2_scrobbler.dll (this is the one that uses the tray app and you have to configure via the tray app)

as far as I know, only v2 plugins up to 2.0.45 work with mm, newer plugins have some unicode incompatibility.

when using the v1 plugin (gen_audioscrobbler.dll), sometimes the config panel gets stuck behind the MM window.. if you shrink the window down before you try to open config you can see it and click on it to bring it to front.

if your using the v2 plugin, the only way to config is via the tray application, and as mentioned the newer plugins do not work with mm.

Also, today last.fm submission was up/down all day, but any scrobble should have been cached for submit when able to connect.

No option Scrobbling

by jwright444 » Mon Jan 28, 2008 5:52 pm

Coincident with cubik's scrobbling problems, I lost my Scrobbler option pane in MM when I upgraded to the MM version 1131. and couldn't disable Scrobbler. I've deleted the plugin, stripped my registry and still Scrobbler loads and faithfully serves up the next track whether I want it to or not. A bit like the Monty Python skit with the legless knight that doesn't know when to quit.

How do I completely uninstall Scrobbler? Should I un/reinstall MM?

I'd like to have Scrobbler on board, but without options, it's become a nuisance.

I'm now using MM 1132 with Vista.

Glad you got it working! Happy scrobbling. 8)

Figured it out! Finally....

I did a full uninstall/reinstall of MM3 with the 1.1 plugin which didn't help.

In the end I did a regedit search for "scrobb" which led me to the
\Hkeycurrentuser\Software\Audioscrobbler\Winamp Plugin keys..

I deleted all the keys in this folder and restarted MM3. The scrobbler plugin had lost all my settings so I put them back in and it started working.

Thanks to all that tried to help - Hopefully this will help someone in the future. Basically, this key doesn't get deleted when you uninstall/reinstall so any corruption remains. Getting rid of it and resetting username/password seems to solve it.

I'm using 1.1.10 gen_audioscrobbler.dll which is the old plugin.

edit: wanted to add, I've used nearly all of the mm3 alpha/beta all the way up to the current rc-1 linked in the beta forum and haven't had any problems..

As a last ditch effort, have you tried to reset your dsl connection? power off your dsl and/or router for 30 seconds, then power it all back up and see if you still have problems?

the new plugin uses gen_wa2_scrobbler.dll and has the tray applet which you use to configure and see various info on artists/tracks.

The new style plugin latest version do not work with MM because of some unicode problems, I believe the last new plugin to work was 2.0.45 but I don't have a link for it handy.

In any case, the log you posted was for the 1.1 version, so there should not be any problems with it and MM. Mine is working fine altho occasionally I see tracks get cached for a little while then submitted eventually.

here is an excerpt from my audioscrobbler log for comparison.

I searched for 'force cache' in my log file and haven't got that error..

which options do you have checked on the plugin config screen?

by spacefish » Sat Jan 26, 2008 3:36 pm

I'm using the release version of MM, 3.0.1.1127, gold license.

I've been scrobbling fine since v3 was officially released, using the exact audioscrobbler plugin listed above, and I always download/use the newest beta or RC when its available. Sorry I can't be more help :(

I'm also using 1.1.10 but not having any problems. You might want to give this version a try, though I don't know if this was the one that doesn't work in MM. I came in late.

Settings are all correct, no crashed mediamonkeys in background. It's odd - It seems to be set up correctly following any guides I can find on here but just doesn't work.

Thanks for that - I realise that the server will be up and down but it's been that way for a few days now (probanly more like a week) and no-one else on LastFM seems to be complaining, likewise no-one in here seems to have an issue so it seems to be my PC that is affected.

Strange

Any ideas?

by Teknojnky » Fri Jan 25, 2008 4:03 pm

submission server has been flakey, if your plugin was working and you haven't changed anything, then in all likelyhood, the problem is with last.fm submission server..

don't worry tho, all the tracks get cached until it can connect and upload them.

Problems scrobbling

Hi there,

I've been running v3 for a while now and my LastFM plugin has stopped working and I don't know why.

I thought it may because I installed that latest beta 2 but I removed that and put v3.0.1.1127 back on and it's still knackered...

I've got the 1.1.10 winamp plugin installed and it shows up inside Mediamonkey and lets me put my username etc.. in but no tracks appear on my LastFM page.

The log file from the plugin looks like this

Elapsed Date/Time Module Debug

I've had a look all over these and the LastFM forums and tried other versions of the plugins etc.. but to no avail.

It appears that the "SubmitSong Cannot send - Force Cache Enabled " line is the actual error but I can't find any decent info on it related to MM3.

Does anyone have any ideas? My internet connection is bog standard ADSL which doesn't go through any proxies or anything. I haven't changed any security settings and don't use the Windows Firewall either. I'm running Vista by the way.

It was working for ages and then just gave up - At first I thought it was a LastFM problem but it looks like it isn't.

Thanks

cubik
