seriously, just add this .mp4 plugin http://home.scarlet.be/ruben.castelein/ ... lugins.htm and you can play and encode, no other software involved.

I am having a similar problem. I can get it to play most .m4a tracks, but it simply cannot play m4a-AAC tracks. Each time I try to play one of those, it asks me to obtain a more updated version of Quick Time. But the version of the Quick Time I am using is the latest. But I am not certain why it is trying to use Guick Time since it cannot play those as well. I love the way MM tags things when it rips, but I may have to go back to Winamp since I do not want to have to spend too much time converting specific m4a files into MP3s just so that MM can play them. Ugh!

thank you andrea1127...the beta test update seems to have done the trick...many thanks!!!!!

[quote="andreao1127"]I was having the same problem! I found this, downloaded the player from the last page of the beta forum, and now all of my M4A's work. I hope it works for you!

Lastest quicktime isn't compatible with MM unless you update to the beta version of MM 3.12.1282 -- its available in the "beta-testing" section of this forum.
Need help? Got a suggestion? Can't find something?

quicktime may be necessary but it doesn't solve the problem on its own.

Got m4a files to play after downloading and running the aac/m4a codec trial exe from here: http://www.mediamonkey.com/addons/input-output/

But... the third track I played skipped out near the end - there is no skipping in the file played in iTunes
! I'm letting it play as I type this - just got more skipping during the 7th track.

Going to try file conversion from m4a to mp3, maybe the skipping just a defect in playback.

add another user to the count of those who have quicktime installed and no m4a files will play.

I know this is an old thread, but I have been over and over all of the threads I can find, and NONE of them are allowing me to play MY ENTIRE LIBRARY, encoded in lossless M4A...

I have installed and uninstalled a dozen times at least, MM3, QTalt, QT, any and nearly all CoDecs I could find on the internet... nothing. I have re-installed using various and sundry orders, as well... Any order, all options, and I still cannot get any of the files to play... I have an older install/version on my laptop, and it works, I cannot make it work on my newly re-formatted desktop, though... REALLY getting frustrated, here!

Help, please?
