I tend to agree with Judas--your suggestion would be rather difficult to explain. The simplest way of meeting your needs would be to set the Auto-DJ to only add a single track.

Re. adding current search results, my opinion is that your logic applies to other functions aside from Auto-DJ. e.g. Synchronization, CD Burning.
I think the easiest way to accomplish this for all cases would be to add the means of creating a auto-playlist on the fly. It's on our to-do list, but not considered that critical.
