album art not showing up

Post by theloniouscoltrane »

The center window has gotten recalcitrant about showing the album art (see picture below). It works about one out of five times. Image now shows fine in lower left window (old problem magically disappeared).

i got that too, so i went in to find the line in the ini file to turn on the bitmap cache for the album art view. and i could not find it? i think they might have taken that out and just turned off the cache, some were having troubles with it and some were not, i was going to try and use it again to check for this error. or maybe they just changed the name of the line in the ini file on me?

but your not alone :) i get this and so do some other members. :(

I have/had the same problem. Particuarly in the "Show Album Art" mode. After a fresh restart it works fine, but from a certain moment the covers are disappearing more and more. I rolled back to an older version, but same problem.
Finally I discovered, that the problem starts when I edit an album art item. If I have changed something there, I have to restart MM (rescan is not enough). After that restart there is no problem left (until the next change.....)

I've turned MM on and off and on and off dozens of times, rebooted at least ten times, and no help.

yes it is seeming like it is losing the link information to the album art. not sure but i have just seen some art i know i had put there ( by a link to art in another folder,) not show when the song was playing so it has to be losing the link info :o

Same problem, I am running free version 3.1.0.1256, on XP Pro, with about 35,000 tracks all on an external drive All is fine except in "show Album Art" or "Show Album Art with Detail" modes. The text info is correct but in the main pane no album art is displayed at all, however, when a track is played, the album art shows up happily in the bottom LHS frame. Any suggestions? Thanks

only thing i can say to do and everyone here knows it and has had issues about it.
but here goes.
1. find album cover for one song that is missing it by doing it manualy with the properties tabs.
2. when you get the confirmation panel make sure you select save image to tag if possile.
and select save image to folder.
3. make sure the option in the options panel says to save the album art to the artist folder, using the artists name for the image's file name.
4. select the option to have monkey look in the folders for album art.
5. remove all the album art from the one huge stoarge folder you told monkey to look in before, or monkey will put them all in each song's tags. now put the album art in a back up folder so you don't lose it and monkey don't know where it went.
6. use the online album art finding script it should follow the rules you set up but if it has its own rules that need set up then make them the same save to the artists folder under the artists name.

thats going to fix the finding of it, and going to stop the losing of the linking information, but it is taking a chance of you getting more then one image in the folders.
if you use the name folder jpg, which is why i said to use the artists name.
but you say the other program needs folder jpg as the name. ? then save the other programs links to that back up folder you made with all the images in. i don't know what else you can do as monkey needs it done one way and the other program wants it done the other way.

Thanks for the reply. I do and have done all of the things you kindly recommended. Here is a particular example (see URL below). If you notice the picture in the upper part, blond girl pulling her hair back (her name is Sia), next to where it says OAOAOA 2006. That picture doesn't exist anywhere I can find. The folder's art work is in the folder holding all the songs. There is only one piece of art, and it is the picture of David Gilmour at the lower left, the picture that should be associated with all of the songs in that folder. As any song from that folder plays, the Gilmour picture is at the lower left, and, if I right-click directly on Sia's nose and push push "view full size," up pops GIlmour's picture.

This is driving me nuts.

There is a ticket open for this in the Mantis bug tracker though it looks like none of the devs have been able to reproduce any problem yet. I haven't been able to reproduce any problem either.

searching for photos of her i have been sent to porn sites with images of another girl that has the same name.
or is listed as the same name. Sia Kate Isobelle Furler this might be some sort of virus got from a song / mp3 download site like my space or other site.

some virus writers don't wish to do damage they just wish to put their favorite singers images on other peoples computers. which is a form of electronic graffiti. :x so you might have got that. i hope i did not get it now that i was looking for answers for you.. :( cause i don't want por..... o photos on my system. :x

I know this will seem terribly old fashioned and out of date, but I neither download illicit music nor do I keep, watch or download porn. I ripped the CD and I have active virus protection.

Here's a link to some of the lady's music. She's no porn star. http://www.amazon.com/s/qid=1248694935/ ... %3Apopular

yep i found her site also but i was directed to p;or... n sites i did not say you went there, i did wonder though if you got the songs from an mp3 site. thanks for saying you don't. i also don't get them from any mp3 sites. :)

but why would the image come from the cdrom when it was ripped? umm?

did you rip it while you were online? it might have stuck that image in the virtual cd area and matched it to the songs on your computer? did you rip them to wav first or did you rip them to mp3 first from the cdrom?

stick that cdrom in the computer and look at it in explorer see if there is any files on it that you did not notice when monkey ripped it.? :-?

These are compilation CD's I've put together over the years of each year's favorite songs. The CD cover is a B&W close up of one of my favorite artists for that year. I've had those picture files for over three years, and I could have shown the same problem occurring with pictures I've had for over ten years.

bump

Half year later the problem is still here.
Sometimes album art is shown... Very often on a page of "Show Album Art" view there is more than 75% of the albums not generated. The generation is slow as well.
Maintain Library functionality does not help in any way.
I have ALL album arts embedded into tags.

Database problem?
I have cleared my library and re-read again. Same, same....

Will anything be done regarding this. We can wait, just to know that something will be done, some day, will make us happy ;)
