ID3v2.3 tags when migrating from WMP

Post by Robin Banks »

I am new to MM, having arrived as a refugee from WMP 12.

I imported 2600 mp3 files, which went very well. I have a few problems arising from WMP and MM implementing different sets of ID3v2.3 tags.

Not implemented in MM
TIT3 (Subtitle)
TLAN (Language)

I see there have been requests for TLAN and TIT3 going back to the early years of this millenium. I have also found a 2-year old Official Wishlist which makes no mention of additional tags. Am I safe in assuming that the current set of tags is not going to be extended? In which case, is my best course of action to move this data to Custom 1, Custom 2, etc?

Partially implemented
TPUB (Publisher (i.e. Record label)) and TOLY (Original lyricist). These are displayed in Track Properties, but not available as columns.

Is that an oversight or a policy decision? Is there any way to display this data? I notice that the choice of columns available as search criteria for advanced autoplaylists is longer, and that both Publisher and Original lyricist are there. So why not let them be displayed - at least for Gold users?

I have posted separately about some issues with TDAT, TYER and TORY.

Apart from these few gripes, I have to say that MM is a real pleasure to work with. The user interface is superb, and an enormous relief after the horrendously confusing and inflexible UI of version 12 of WMP.

Many thanks for any answers to these questions.

not sure if they are going to add them in to mm 4 or not but since they are planing the mm 4 version now then its a good time to ask for it again.

yep the other programs wish they were mediamonkey, and some try to copy him but are so far lack luster in the handling of database's its not funny. well to us mediamonkey users its funny.

but the gui here is a very straight forward way of doing it and very much loved by the rest of the monkey troop.
glad you joined pull down a limb from the tree and sit a spell or build a leaf nest and stay for good. :)

check out the all scripts thread in the help for addons forum room to find many helpful scripts to really customize your version of monkey.

and check out the addons page at the link on top of this fourm page you can click skins there and go to the wiki site of monkeys to view all the user made skins. pick one of the some 70 odd skins there and really have fun with the gui.

welcome to the troop.
