MM keeps crashing

Post by purplegreendave »

MM has a tendency to crash between tracks. I can't reproduce it at will, but it happens 2/3 times a day.
I installed the debug version but it never prompted me to create/send an error log.

Win7, 2ghz Core 2 Duo (T5750), 3072MB, 1 DVD reader, 1 HD (C:/), MediaMonkey 3.2.0.1294

Then download the debug view program and you can save the log via the debug viewer and send it to the devs or post it here.

Will do.
It also has a habit of skipping tracks, greying them out as if they're missing, yet if I go back and try again it'll play the track so obviously nothing's wrong with the file itsself. will the debug log show that too?

EDIT: I think I did it right...

are you on a laptop or a pc? laptop could be getting hot there are reports of the laptop batteries being messed with by windows 7. as in meltdowns of computer unit. but i'm still trying to figure out how software os could mess with the battery.?

but hot hard drives and cpus can make errors happen. you do have a cooling pad with fans in to sit the laptop on don't you? :-?

A laptop.
It'd be seriously sucky if these problems were rooted in heat issues, I don't game or do anything else hugely demanding (an odd bit of video decoding, but that'd be at night, when nothing else is happening).

i can't see your log it is giving me an error. just try sending it to support at mediamonkey i think the email address is just that. support at mediamonkey dot com , or find the email address for one of the developers and send it straight to them.

glad its not heat causing it for you. but i'd get the cooling pad if you do long video coding. as that is demanding and will get cpus hot fast and in a laptop there aint much room for air flow. 8)

With a 9 cell battery the laptop's at a nice slant, plenty of airflow underneath it :D

As for being unable to read it...

I have the same symptoms here on my xp sp3 desktop.

I think there was already a thread about this but can't remember for sure.

I had a look at your log but I don't see any indication of a crash. Did MM actually crash while you created the log?

Stops responding...? Does it "unfreeze" at some point?

No, stops responding as in Windows says it's stopped responding, does its "check online for solutions" thing then closes.

Could this have anything to do with CD Art Display?
Are there any known issues with it? I ran it on my laptop when I had Vista, and there were no problems, but I DO have a different OS now...

Possibly, especially if this always happens during track transitions. I'd disable it temporarily and see if the issues continue.
