Not minimising to tray
I have Minimize to taskbar set. But when I minimise MM I get a taskbar entry as well as the tray icon.

Re: Not minimising to tray
not sure if it is a mediamonkey error or not? i get this same type of issue with another app i find it sometimes as a shrunk window in the task bar, and also as an icon in the system tray. this is caused i found by the use of the screensaver in windows xp sp3 not sure what code is messing up the program or the screensaver, so i'll blame it on ms for now.
but if that is what is going on for you as said i'm not sure.
i'll say this. i use shrink to task bar and close to tray, for the options in monkey and i don't get this error you get.

Re: Not minimising to tray
Thanks Keith. It was down to me. Seems I also had 'Always show tray icon' checked. So I was obviously getting both!
I did also just now try 'Minimize to MicroPlayer', but I don't see any difference. Still only see it in the tray.
BTW, one minor frustration that's puzzling me is why it's now taking about 3 or 4 seconds after clicking 'Options' for the window to appear. It's surprising how tedious that can get when you're experimenting.

Re: Not minimising to tray
Thanks nohitter151, but that seems to make no difference. What is this MicroPlayer supposed to look like and where is it located? It's no big deal to me, as I'm happy enough with the main window, but I'm curious now!
I r-clicked the toolbar, to get this context menu

Haven't looked in there for years, probably since adding one new toolbar myself ('ALL'). The other entries are all unfamiliar to me. Are these added by the respective apps? Anyway, I checkmarked MediaMonkey and closed the menu, but no change. Tried starting/restarting MM. I also tried enabling the WMP toolbar, and when I opened WMP and minimised it, there was indeed a small WMP toolbar in the tray area. I assume that's what MM is supposed to do?
BTW, broadening the discussion a bit, I suspect I still haven't got things setup properly. There's my outstanding query about why a single left click on the tray icon no longer starts/stops playback. (Unless that feature has been dropped? Hope not!) But also, when I launch MM from cold, why doesn't it open its main window? I only get a tray icon, which I then have to double-click to get the main window. Three times as many clicks to open MM as 2.5!

Re: Not minimising to tray
Hmm, close to tray shouldn't show the player in the Taskbar, it should just leave the tray icon. I tried here to have the Close button close to tray and instead it minimized to micro player in the Taskbar. The Taskbar button for MediaMonkey did disappear though. This was tested on Windows Vista. Something seems to be wrong.

Re: Not minimising to tray

all the microplayers are depending on the skin creator as to what they look like and what info is shown by them.
all of mine are 150 wide by 16 high for the horizontal one.
the vertical one is about 130 high and about 80 wide i think?
but they are both the same design for me i just make them useful since too much stuff
would make a huge task bar on your screen.
reason you might not see the micro player is that your screen is too narrow for it to show with the way the shrunk windows
are taking all that room. if you make the shrunk windows group to show under one shrunk window marker and use the arrow menu to view all of them. then you might get enough room beside the system tray to show the micro player.

Just tested on Windows Server 2003 and close to tray closes to micro player instead. This seems like a bug to me.

I'd like to try both. But as per my reply earlier to nohitter151, I don't know what or where the 'micro player' is! As I said, I couldn't create it.
More important, I'm still unable to get MM to start in it's main window. What does yours do? Here, it creates a tray icon and, as I described, I have to double click that. So after 3 clicks I get to see MM - which took 1 click in v 2.5.

Re: Not minimising to tray
mediamonkey now remembers the last way it was when closed.
so you either closed it when it was in the tray or it crashed when there.
restore it to the main player and then right click the icon and exit monkey.
it should start as the main player then.
on the main player there are the normal roll up and down and close buttons.
first on the left will close to task bar.
next one will give you choice to view micro player or the mini player/ float player.
the others are the minimize and close buttons.
you must use windows task bar and right click on it then on the toolbar link to find the monkey tool bar and then check it
to turn it on or it won't show up.
as i said in the last post of mine if the screen is too narrow there won't be enough room to the left of the clock for it to show. and if you have all the windows shrunk down to single windows for each window that will take up all the room on the task bar best to make all shrunken windows and programs group under one shrunken menu.
in order to check and see if your screen is too narrow. check the properties of your desktop and go to the settings tab look at the size if it is 800 x 600 chances are that your screen is too narrow.

If I Close to Tray it goes to the Microplayer instead, if I exit MediaMonkey in that state it will open in the Microplayer state as well.
On the default Glided skin you can access the Microplayer left of the minimize button at the right top of the main window.
