1196: Main Window (was) broken BUG#5009
Just installed the new test version (3.1.0.1196), and it installed fine (no SQL errors when updating the database). However when the program completes loading, there's a critical problem (at least on my machine) in that the main window where the tracks are supposed to show, nothing does. I can select a tree node and it'll appear to be loading up the tracks (the track and size totals in the information bar jumps up as if the tracks are loading in the window), however nothing appears in the track window. The scrollbar will appear and scroll as if there are tracks there, but there's no information present in the window, click on a row and nothing happens. Right clicking the node and selecting to play it will show the tracks in the Now Playing window just fine.
I just now noticed that something does appear. It just seems there is an invisible box covering the actual window. Title, Date, Path & Description appears as the column headings (which aren't the ones I had up before installing the new version), but if I look over close to the scroll bar, I can see information hiding, and if I scroll right, I can see it scrolling as well. I'm unable to right click on the four column headers I mentioned to try and disable them and see what that does. Switching skins from an installed on to a default one (Glided) has no effect. Album Art and Album Art + Details appears to work just fine, it's only the Details view that's broken. Switching back from Glided to Royal Negative Pink has shrunk the invisible box it would appear as now, I'm able to see one and a half unaffected rows at the bottom of the window.
Closing and restarting the Monkey doesn't solve it, nor does a restart of the computer.
EDIT: I got to thinking that those headers sounded like ones that would be used for the Podcast Node (which I never use) so I went to that node to see, and they were, then switching back to a Library Node, problem is gone.

MM:
I tried your suggestion but I had to navigate into several levels of nodes in order for the problem. to go away

Ok:
This is getting annoying because I have to go to the podcasts in order for my columns to show up correctly each time I open MM.

Re: 3.1.0.1196: Main Window (was) broken
I would, but my database alone is 32MB, the installation folder would be another 40+MB, and I don't have the best internet package.
HOWEVER, I think I might have found where the conflict is. I backed up my Scripts folder & INI, then opened up MediaMonkey and uninstalled every script that had an install package. Restarted Monkey, no problemo. Put the backup INI & Script Folder in, problemo. Thus, I set everything up like it was before, then figured I would uninstall the scripts one by one. Went to uninstall the first one in the list that I knew made some changes to the UI (Custom Properties Panel), restarted, no problemo. Reinstalled that script using the install package without making any other changes, problemo.
Seems Custom Properties Panel is causing a conflict somehow, as I can uninstall and reinstall that script and the problem comes and goes without any other changes being made. I do believe Nyn is a user of this script as well, so that could explain it. Mind you that the panel didn't have to be showing for me, the simple fact it was installed seemed to trigger this event. Perhaps Nyn could confirm?
EDIT: I should also note that the script mentioned is the only one I have/had installed which added a panel to the main menu, the rest are ones with separate windows or additions to the tree, thus if Nyn tests, having other panel adding scripts might effect if as well.

Mizery:
I was able to test and both the Custom Properties Panel script and the Playlist Sandbox script are causing the conflict. I also tested the mmStations and the Monkey Rok scripts but neither of those panels are causing a problem.

Re: 3.1.0.1196: Main Window (was) broken
I've just had the same problem and I don't have either of the scripts mentioned installed. The extra columns go away after navigating to any of the 3 subnodes under "Podcast Directory".

Do you have any panel type scripts installed? If I am not mistaken you use the embedded minilyrics scipt, try to remove it and see if the problem goes away.

Re: 3.1.0.1196: Main Window (was) broken
Nyn, you're right - when I disabled my Scripts folder MM loaded fine. I have both Embedded minilyrics and MonkeyRok.nynaevelan wrote:NH:

Edit: And the problem doesn't occur after you've disabled all your scripts then re-enabled them (I renamed by Scripts folder to Scripts.OFF to disable).

Re: 3.1.0.1196: Main Window (was) broken [close to tray?]
I have the same problem.
It began after an error occured when closing MM with "EXIT" (Context Menu of MicroPlayer).
I speculate, that the .ini was not written correctly. After deleting the .ini, the DetailView is okay again.
The lost view affects only a part of the pane.
1. Use MM in a small windowed mode.
2. Close MM
3. Restart MM
4. Enlarge the window
--> Only the part of the former pain is punched out.
There is an additional horizontal scroll bar and the vertical scroll bar has a hole, were the former lever was.

Greetings, Timo
Edit:
You can reproduce it:
1. Switch to windowed mode
2. make the MM window smaller
3. Switch on the general option "close to tray" and close MM via the context Menu of MicroPlayer.
4. Restart MM and restore the window.
--> The part of the formerly opened DetailView is punched out.
5. Disable "close to tray"
6. Restart MM
--> It's okay again

I've tried as you've described but can't reproduce (i have no auto scripts installed).Timo_Beil wrote:You can reproduce it:

Re: 3.1.0.1196: Main Window (was) broken
I tried it on a PC with a fresh installed XP prof SP3 that has never seen MM or a MM Script before.
I had only installed MM_3.1.0.1198_debug.exe. No additional scripts, no tricks. A clean installation from scratch on a clean PC.
The behavior remains.
"Close to tray" results in a destroyed view.
(acc. to Nohitter and Nynaevelan it is repaired when a Podcast subnode was selected)

Re: 3.1.0.1196: Main Window (was) broken
I have the same problem after installing 3.1.1198 over my existing 3.0 install.

after restarting, it seems to be ok.
I am suspecting it has to do with the initial import/usage of mm 3.0x column settings, since it appears that my columns are reset.

I too had my columns reset when upgrading 3.0.5 to 3.1.0.1198. Didn't experience the broken window though.
