1344: music file icons changed incorrectly [#7201]

Post by Edgar »

In testing another problem, I uninstalled MM3 and did a clean install of MM4 1344. After doing so, all my file icons for every type of music file (tested: WAV, MP4, MP3 & FLAC) have been changed to the icon for "Minimize to Mini Player" (not sure what it is really called--a black downward pointing triangle in a red outlined box, top right corner of the window by the 3 system icons).

Can't see how to post images here so you will have to use your imagination!

Same thing here. I believe this was the case at least since 1343 and the one before.

I thought that those were the new icons for MediaMonkey.

Thanks, will give it a try. I have a WaveBroadband account which will host small pictures but did not play nice with this forum. I also have a commercial server which I tried with no luck as well.

I don't know for sure, I was surprised when I saw them as I thought they were really ugly.

@Edgar, use the BBCode shown on ImageShack.

That's definitely a bug, there's no mention in the changelog of new icons. And that icon is the unskinned "change to mini/microplayer" icon.

@Nohitter151, where is this icon normally displayed in the unskinned version?

umm it seems i am not getting the icon now but let me check something else no the icons on the wmv's are showing the music note on paper icon, now so they must have fixed it.?

i never did get that icon in that postion nohitter151 shows he is getting it.
of course he sees mm 4's skins float player and i do not see them. only the mm 3 skins floatplayer shows up
for me when i use mm 3 skin in mm 4. but its a messed up display of the player.

wonder if this icon thing could be causing something to go wacky in the code.

I no longer have MM3 installed so cannot test this, but I bet if one examines the embedded icon resources in MM3 the second (#1) icon is the typical music note icon. Looking at MM4:

we see it has moved down to 3rd place (#2).

My biggest gripe is why does MM monkey (no pun intended) around with my icons anyway? I use the system defined ones (except for FLAC which I made):

Is there a way of testing during install to see if the various media types already have icons associated and only if not using the MM ones?

If you don't assign MM as the default player for audio files, the icons are not changed.
